(I'm sorry if you noticed this is a duplicate thread - I posted the first one in the wrong section)

Can we try to get the number of CC members who achieved perfect 2400 scores on the May 2009 examination? I would be interested to know that number.

I'll start: me!

By the way, I really didn't mean to create this thread simply to boast.

lol @ questionmark…but I can understand why people such as soadquake would be elated, I certainly would be too if I received a perfect SAT score!

haha but I think this thread would be better if at least all you outrageously good SAT test takers would share exactly what you did to prep (flash cards, practice tests like crazy, reading newspapers…etc.?) for the test as well as the essay. It might help those who are going be retaking the test and strive to achieve what you 2400ers have already achieved!

and also if anyone here got a 12 on the essay, what was your layout/method? i don’t really like what my sat prep teacher gave us (an intro, one literature example, one historical, and conclusion…)

I used that guide, and it was amazing. Absolutely perfect. It’s so simple, but it will definitely help push your essay score into the double digits.

i got a 2400 as well- this was my second time retaking and i improved from a first time 2230, 223 and 225 PSAT. my advice is to get rocketreview and do enough problems to grasp how exactly test questions are written…by acquainting myself with the little tricks and quirks in wording that the testwriters use to trip students up, i improved a lot more than just doing the questions mindlessly.

and during the test, i was so intensely concentrating on each question-- this helps a lot a lot in math because the math section is not actually hard-- just really conducive to careless mistakes.

the sat is kind of dumb, but if you look at as a game where you build strategies it doesnt hurt at all to play along with it and eventually master it…ok that sounds really toolish, but hey, what are ya gonna do…

That actually sounds like a pretty good layout to me. I don’t think the type of examples is that important, but I think four paragraphs is the way to go. Really, though, the format doesn’t matter nearly as much as what you write. People get 12s with anywhere from 3-5 paragraphs and all kinds of examples.

In regards to essays - use the guide I posted earlier!

You don’t have to have specific types of examples. I used two history examples and one current research example, and I got a 12. The important thing is to have 3 examples - it’s a nice, round, appealing number.
