$2500 recipients...please post stats...

I think it’s probably too late, but it wouldn’t hurt to call them and ask.

I would submit it. They are still distributing funds into the summer months.

Oh dear, didn’t think of resubmitting here. My daughter got a 2350 2nd time she took the SAT but I think we submitted her first score of 2200ish. Might do that today just in case.

Worth a call to ask if a higher SAT submitted at this time would be considered.

Just called the NMSC office and they said any updates had to happen by Dec. 31st. He said that at this point they can’t change anything in the student’s application anyway since the scholarship committee has already started their review. Oh well, live and learn. Too bad we just have one child because the learning curve has been pretty steep. Thank goodness for college confidential.

If I just barely made my state cutoff of 222, but have a 2380 sat, do I stand a good chance of getting the NMF award…???

In 2014 my son received a letter posted on his NM account informing him that he had won the $2500 award. Then the letter disappeared. When I called to ask what happened, NM said they were changing his award because they realized that he was eligible for a Corporate Award. A few days later, there was a new letter that said he had won the Corporate Award. It was actually nice that it happened that way so that we never had to wonder whether he still would have won if he had not been eligible for the Corporate Award.

This is very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

We’ve often wondered if someone who qualifies for a Corporate award thru parent’s employer is not going to win the one-time NMCorp award.

When we spoke to NMCorp, they told us that they try to make sure that the students gets the most money that he/she can. Usually when it’s Corporate vs one-time 2500, the Corporate award is more…usually a minimum of $4k over 4 years, but often $2500 per year for 4 years.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, we were glad that NM changed it because now my son gets $3000 per year instead of the one-time $2500. We are very grateful to the corporate sponsor because he is attending a state college that does not give national merit scholarships. It makes sense for NM to make sure that there are as many winners as possible, and that each gets the largest award for which he or she is eligible.
