At least ya got something done! Lol congrats on getting it completed!

I’ve been mainly using Barrons lately. I was using PWN the SAT Math, though.

Are you studying section by section or all at once? Like, my main focus is Math, and then once I feel confident in that, then I’ll start with the CR.

Honestly I have no idea. I’m much better at english/writing than math, but I need to bring both up.

For this upcoming test I’m probably going to do math exclusively until the last couple days where I’ll work on all my essay topics that I need to memorize, and continuing my vocabulary each day as well. Just started Direct Hits but I want to at least finish the first book before this test.

For me, just math right now. Then I’ll go straight into my CR book and study writing some. Plus, I need to fix my essay examples. (They’re in rough draft mode right now)

Well…all I got done today was a page…which my excuse would be that Friday’s are always hectic for me.

Hi, What I did for my SAT essay is, read a lot of samples and try structuring my essay like the best of these samples. Also, I wrote them and showed them to my English teacher, who at first returned my papers with a lot of corrections and red (my cheeks turned red looking at them too!) but as time went, the corrections got fewer and confidence increased! I took my SAT last week and I’m hoping for the best!

One best sample structure I found useful - [SAT Exam – The SAT Essay](<a href=“SAT Exam”>SAT Exam)

@Marie, I’ve decided to buckle down and do LOTS of math along with finishing the Direct Hits 1 book before this upcoming test.

@suddenlysilly, thanks man! I think I’m going to do 3 examples, 2 from the list I’m going to study and memorize(Enron, Apple, etc.) and then 1 personal example if I have the time. How do you guys normally format it?

14 days left(including today)
I have to do 15 words per day in Direct Hits to finish the book on time.
I need to spend at least a full day on my essay examples.
And the rest of the time will be spent on practice tests and math studying.

Same here. I GOTTA make this Nov date count! No more slackerrrr here!
Well, most of last night and all of today has been in the Emergency Vet Doc’s room about an hr away. Just got back. I plan on major studying tonight and everyday until the test date.

2 more weeks to go! Guess we can start a countdown then.

I’ve been studying for the last couple hours. Did a lot of math and started reading Rocket Review. It’s SOOOO good. I learned that the essay really isn’t subjective, using big words helps a LOT, and 3 examples / a full 2 pages is the way to go. Most interesting line I read was that the graders attempt to give you a score based on what they think the other graders will give you. I know I can get a 12!(well, at least a 10) I saw the chart about how much the essay impacts your score(WOW) and I know I can get AT LEAST a 700 on this upcoming test. Oh, and I need to stop using the word “I,” because it makes your essay less powerful.

Yeah, she (my pet) had a severe allergic reaction to a bug bite. Really messed her all up, but after 8hrs in the office, them treating her, and $514 later, she is healthy! …except they had to shave 1/3 of her fur off though…broke my heart when they brought her back out.

And that’s nice to know about the essay! I’ll especially remember about the use of the word “I.”

You completed a full practice test in 24minutes?! Wow!! lol, jk. I feel like I need and want to study, but I just don’t think I have the right mindset for it right now. Hate to do it, but I feel like I’m going to have to just start early tomorrow morning…

Did some work in the blue book last night - read through about 30 different pages on writing (improving sentences, etc.) strategies. Plan on working through the rest of it tonight and then tomorrow hopefully getting one practice test in!

My HS work is pretty… nonexistent? I only take 5 classes so I get home at noon, and I really only get homework regularly in 2 classes; one of which I finish before class is over. I really only spend 15-20 minutes on homework unless there’s an essay/project in which case I wait till the last minute.(obviously) In terms of studying; I don’t. I have an above 100 average in every class except AP Lit.(I don’t actually read the books, so I’ve failed every quiz) But the quizzes are only worth 5 points each(we’ve had 4) so 20 points so far on the entire quarter. I got a 92/100 on our first project so basically 100/120 points otq which is a B. I’ll probably read the next book we do, but the current one is… not my taste.(Crime&Punishment)

Only 4 left, but one is a DC one. Gotta go to the campus every Wednesday for it…takes up my whole day! 10:30am-5pm!

I actually wanted to start reading more, but then I just decided I didn’t have the extra time for it…but I have considered taking a Lit SAT II and a Physics one…or some good combo of two! Well…idk…not sure if I have the patience to just sit there and read a book lol.

After I get the scores back from the Nov and Dec tests, I’ll be able to narrow my colleges down and start the apps for them…so far I’ve done nothing in that area except answer a few questions on the common app. I mean, I really can’t do anything until then anyways. In early Dec, I’ll have my HS transcript (graduating early) and my DC one too (last semester there-ends on Dec 12) and have finished all of the SAT testing that I can, so then it’s all a rush for apps, then BAM! I’m done! …I feel like such a procrastinator about this lol.

Btw, I saw a preview for a movie and then went to the movies with a friend to see it. I need better focus…Big Time.

So, what are your application plans? Doing them now? Procrastination? Hmm?

Definitely not. I’ll do them soon… maybe :)

I haven’t done anything yet honestly. I’ve just been focusing on the SAT. I really need to compile a list of EC’s and write an insanely good essay, all the other stuff can wait till the last minute.

I didn’t do my vocab today… 30 words tomorrow!

I have all day as well! I’m going to finish my homework first though.

If you haven’t tried Direct Hits, it’s really quite amazing. It gives you a word with a story so you remember the meaning and context in which to use it correctly. It’s also 250? of the most common sat words used on all previous tests, so there’s a really good chance you’ll see at least a few of them on any given test.

Today is 21 of October
Already nervous about the November test /:
I’ve done a full length test from the official sat book second edition. Got 1420.
Not pretty happy with it though
I’m heading to do everyday a full length test to practice sitting 4 continuous hours without getting tired !
I’m a junior and november’s test is going to be my first recorded score for me
Any tips for practicingg before the test day? /:
About the essay and critical and math parts especially
Actually I’m a writer but when it comes to sat essay I don’t get a word to write down :p

@rekie I am now studying direct hits as well heading to finish them but mine is not in a context kind of thing so if u could send me any sat vocab that probably appeared on the test day I’d be thankful !
