28 or 1840?

What should I send to colleges?
My 28 ACT (previously 26)
or
My 1840 SAT (previously 1820)
-------new = (630 M, 600 CR, 610 W (8 essay))
---------------old = (660 M, 570 CR, 590 W(7 essay))

I'm thinking about studying over the summer to get a 30 or above on the ACT. At least a 29 at least.

The colleges I'm interested in are:
NYU
Boston U.
Marquette U.
UW Madison
UM Twin Cities
others...
(some smaller Wisconsin schools)

Is it true that colleges take your highest scores on the SAT or ACT and combine them for a total score? For instance, my old math score was 660. My new is 630. Would they take the old score and the newer CR and W scores?

bump...............................

According to "Source: College Board, Data Extrapolated"

28 = 1860, make your decision from that

28 it slightly better, and you're applying to MW schools, so go with the 28, imo.

Colleges look for your highest score on the ACT. Lets say you took the ACT three times and recieved 35, 32, and 27, colleges will take into account your 35. However, after you have taken the ACT more than 3 times, colleges start to average your scores.
