2Y, 3Y, 4Y: Were roommate requests ever not acccommodated?

I am an incoming first year and looking at the Housing website makes me nervous because it says that Hsg. will try their BEST to accommodate all roommate requests. The site says that sometimes it is difficult to do so because students get admitted to the University at different times.

Have you, or do you know of anyone who has ever requested a roommate and not have that request accommodated? How easy (or difficult, for that matter) is it to request a new roommate if the situation arises that you are not placed with the roommate you originally requested?

It happens if you request a group of SIX and then don’t want to be put in Gooch or something.
They also might screw up, then you can contact them and work it out.
Otherwise just one roommate is usually an honored request. You have a higher chance of being put in a not so great dorm (Gooch or Faulkner or something, compared to Lambeth) than being separated from your roommate requests.

Thanks, Hazel!
