I've applied as a music intended major..
And I know grades are not the most important thing,
but I've got straight Bs for this semester due to my practicing for auditions...
Is this okay?

it won't look great.. but

just send it in, it's all you can do now. t's not in your hands now. If you get in, thats great. if you don't, you can find other great institutions throughout the US.

What was your GPA before this, tests? The audition is important so break a leg and blow them away if you want to compensate for grades.

Ok, since when B is bad? I thought B has always been good? Plus, it's Rice!!! I don't think it will hurt you.

The average GPA for prospective students is probably around 3.7-9ish so 3.0 is a little low for that average.

Ok, my bad. I thought 3.0 was his first semester GPA in Rice as a freshman...

Depends on what your GPA was before. If it's only a slight downward trend then it probably wouldn't matter that much.

It also depends on if you took a lot of AP classes and/or had any special situation.

I have a question relating to the opposite
What if I got a 4.0, all A's first semester of senior year, and had A's and 2 B's the years before? Will that help me? or not affect decision at all?

Hehe, the grades scare is ridiculous...
Listen, it depends on what class it was. Many other factors like a 'bad' teacher can get you a B. Admissions probably won't care if you made a couple of B's...we are human after all. Don't worry about it, you have already applied. Enjoy the rest of your year now that apps are basically over. Believe it or not, people can get into schools like Stanford with...GASP 2 B's. But it also depends on what kind of high school you went to and what you did outside of school. I find that more than grades, schools want to see that you are interested in something. Music, sports, or anything else. Pursue some things that you love and it will probably overshadow a few B's. Atleast this is what every school's "Philosophy" page would lead you to believe.
I apologize if I am being a bit harsh, i was the same way about grades. Don't worry about it as there's nothing you can do, worrying won't make anyone feel better.

DD got into music with GASP a C+ in one IB High Level course. Knock their socks off in the audition.
