3.0 GPA/35 ACT rising senior!

Hi to all,

Background: I'm a junior at a top Illinois public school. I skipped the second and third grades but went back a grade for athletics when I transferred to a public middle school. My ADHD/LD really affected my freshman and sophomore years as it went untreated, but with medication I've really been able to buckle down and get some decent work done.

Ethnicity: Hispanic

GPA: 3.00/3.88

Class Rank: somewhere in the top 14% in a class of ~650

AP's: Junior--AP English Lang/Comp , APUSH
Senior--AP English Lit, AP US Gov't, AP Econ, AP Bio, AP Calc AB, attempting to fit AP Psych

-two year class council member
-baseball soph/but hurt jun--getting recruited by Ivies, smaller D1 schools, multiple D3 schools
-club/travel baseball every summer
-swimming frosh
-1st chair alto sax in wind symphony frosh/soph
-1st chair alto sax in jazz band frosh/soph

-manage four hip-hop artists with two other partners

-summer elementary school tutor (~20 hours per week, 6 weeks per summer)

Honors:
-National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar
-Likely NMSF (at least...)
-Foreign Language Honors jun
-English Honors jun
-Tri-M Music Honor Society frosh

Schools: Miami Ohio (EA just for scholarship opportunities), Illinois (LAS), Wisconsin-Madison, Michigan, UVa (reeaaach), Boston College, Colgate, Colby, Lehigh, SMU, Wake Forest

Standardized Tests (again, pretty much polar opposites of my grades):
-AP Comp--35 (36 R, E; 35 M; 33 S) <-- single date
-SAT--coming back next week! yay!
-PSAT--223
-SAT II: US History--760; will be taking Lit and Math II in September

Recommendations:
-AP Lang teacher
-Club baseball coach

Some extra information:
I'll most likely be spending a PG year out east if I don't end up with a ~4.8/5.0 GPA first semester--even if I do achieve that, I probably will take that year anyways. I missed my junior year of varsity baseball due to an arm injury, and I'd like to get that back.

bump? 10char

Somebody please

I think you look great for colleges. Great scores, good rank (definitely improve for the likes of UVA etc.), take some more SAT IIs
I would say you look like you could aim higher than your schools you have posted, but hey what do I know.

Even though you’re GPA is a little low, you’re test scores are amazing, and I think you have a great chance at the schools you’re looking at given that you’re a minority and have a really interesting story (ADHD, skipping grades, etc.) and you have strong extracirriculars. In fact, I would try applying to some reach schools, too. I would write about the struggles you’ve been through in your essays, and my only suggestion would be narrowing down your area of focus (is it journalism, music, baseball…?) Hope that helps!

You need to explain your low GPA. Your ACT look very good though. I think you have a low chance of getting into UVA and Mich because they usually admit people with high GPA.

■■■■■. your user name is hahaheywhatsup, if that’s not a joke idk what is. and you manage four hip-hop artists, really?

■■■■■? you’re joking, right? most of my usual username choices involve the use of some part of my name, and i needed something different to keep my anonymity intact on CC. completely apologize for offending you. and yeah, i do manage four hip-hop artists… they’re not exactly huge, but one of 'em’s getting a ton of press on GoodMusicAllDay and Suburban 17 and a few other hip-hop sites. don’t hate, bruh

buuuuuumppppp
