3.0 gpa applying to UC schools

I’m honestly extremely conflicted about my situation right now.
I have a 3.0 UC GPA that I calculated and I don’t know if I should apply for any of the UC’s.
I’m out of state by the way.

First off,

  • The UC’s have a 3.4 cut off for OOS students
  • They only prioritize California residents
  • The UC’s don’t even consider me if I apply with my GPA

But,

  • I have an application fee waiver that I can use and I don’t want to put it to waste.

The sad part is, if I apply to any UC and spend my time writing a personal statement, the readers preliminary rules are to look at the GPA first. So, they’re gonna see my GPA and immediately move on to the next student without reading my personal statement! I would rather not spend my time doing something pointless.

Should I just save the effort of writing my personal statement and apply somewhere I can actually get in? I’m aware that they charging upwards of 60K a year now for OOS, and I definitely can’t afford.

What I really want to do is see if they accept me or not. I want to get the rejection email and laugh like a mad man.

You do not meet the minimum UC GPA as an OOS applicant, so your application will not be reviewed. There is no reason to apply even with fee waivers. You are not eligible applicant.
Spend your time looking for viable options.

I agree. They look at grades first regardless. Apply somewhere else.

Agree.
Why would you apply to a place where you won’t get a dime in financial aid nor will be considered because of GPA?

Hello everyone.

I am currently CC student and planing to transfer to UC this Fall 2016.
My major is Electrical Engineering
My UC transferable is 2.979.

I applied to all UC schools.
Unfortunately, I got rejection from UCR and UCSC. But still waiting for other schools.

My school activities are good and personal statement is about 8-9/10.

Any advices about the other school that I am waiting for?

Thank you so much for your help.
