3.0 GPA @ Ivy. Jobs?

I was wondering if i can get a decent job with this GPA from Cornell...
Cornell's avg salary for Mech. Eng was 55,000 last year. I was wondering if I can get average salary....

And I was wondering if I have chances at places like Exxon, Lockheed, or if I should look at other places...

You could probably get an interview at both companies if they come to your job fair.

I don't know about Exxon, but I know Lockheed is hiring tons of engineers. I know at least one recent instance of a GPA below 3.0 from a university less prestigeous than Cornell. So, yes, the chances are very good.

But, and here's the rub: DON'T DEPEND ON ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEWS! Send your resume to tons of places. In fact, send it several times over the spring semester to companies you're serioiusly interested in. If you have not heard in two weeks, send another resume. Work all networks: friends, family, contacts, alumni, even CC. This is not time to be an underachiever or to hide your attributes under a rock. Finally, assume that companies don't really get serious until March. Sure, some people get picked up in October, but some people write hit singles. You and I are not one of those people.

And, for what it's worth, I'm living proof that you can have a great career with a lower GPA than that from Cornell.

Now go get a great job!
