3.0 Transfer?

<p>I go to a big state university and I have definitely decided I hate it here. I do not want to call out the school but I feel like the teachers just do not care one bit about getting to know the students or helping out students that are struggling. I was a great student in high school but college has been somewhat of a struggle as I will probably barely have a 3.0 for my first semester. Anyway, any good schools, preferably in the south where I can get in with a 3.0? </p>

<p>3.65 GPA
26 ACT
Lots of extra-carriculars
URM</p>

<p>College:
12 hours this fall, probably a 3.0
18 hours in spring, hoping to have a 3.5 </p>

<p>Looking for a school with 15k students or less and a good student to teacher ratio. Don't mind a LAC but being a big sports guy a D1 sports program helps. Thanks a lot!</p>

<p>An alternative to consider is a smaller college in a big city where there are good professional sports?</p>

<p>If you are applying to transfer for next fall, you will only have your fall gpa and your high school record to support your application.</p>

<p>What is your financial situation? Most transfer students don’t qualify for anything like the financial aid available for freshmen so if that’s a consideration, you need to check to see if your new school is affordable.</p>

<p>For big Div I sports and your stats, your choices will be smaller if you need FA.</p>

<p>Other posts indicate from Tennessee, majoring in biology but wanting to change to biomedical engineering. Tennessee has two public universities with biomedical engineering, University of Tennessee - Knoxville and University of Memphis.</p>

<p>One of H’s employees’ son goes to UMemphis and is BioMedE and really likes it. I’m guessing that this student is at UTenn or UTenn-Chatt.</p>

<p>If you take a gap semester, you can apply as a freshman to the majority of schools, assuming you have under 26 college credits. If you’re looking for a smaller, less competitive school with sports, you might want to check out Gonzaga, St. Mary’s College of CA, and Wofford. If you can relax your sports requirement, you’ll have far more options, particularly if you apply to places where your URM status will put you at an advantage.</p>

<p>Sorry I’ve taken a long time to reply, I am a freshman at UTK. I’ve thought about it and the sports thing does not matter as much, my main priority is getting into medical school. FA is a small factor but my parents want what is best for me at the same time. Any chance at Samford or Sewanee? These are two schools I am really interested in. Any suggestions are appreciated but I think my parents want me to stay in the south</p>
