Are 3/2 programs a good idea? 3 years undergrad for bachelor's in whatever, then next 2 subsequent years are for MBA (what would have been your senior year is now first year MBA). I heard that you might still have trouble getting a job after your MBA since you would have had no job experience?

I don't know anything about these programs, but after seeing two of my brothers struggle after getting their MBAs with no experience (one ended up working for footlocker (or footaction) selling shoes for a period of time, I wouldn't go for my MBA without going to a top business school. Most top business schools require 4 to 5 years of experience.

The salary numbers don't lie. There is a huge difference between the type of business schools that mainly accept experienced hires and those that accept a large number of recent grads.

well if you look at the business schools' average starting salaries, would a person who went straight into MBA with no work experience through the 3/2 program be making significantly less than the average starting salary?

dk333, which 3/2 programs are you considering?

URochester, Carnegie Mellon, IU, WUSTL, SUNY Binghamton.

I recognize several of those as being very good programs. I noticed the websites I checked out didn't heavily advertise the 3+2 program (probably because they don't want MBA applicants to know they accept some students with no experience).

My main concern would be how difficult it is to get in this program and stay in it (based on GPA etc). My guess is that it's very difficult. However, if that is not an issue, this should be a good deal.

Just try to find out how good of a job the university does at placing it's students in internships. Since you won't have any experience, an internship is especially critical. An internship could guarrantee you at least 1 job offer with the company you did the internship for.
