3.4 GPA, around 1400 SAT

If i was to end up with a 3.4-3.5 range GPA, a 1400+ SAT, Sports, President of Clubs, 100 community service hours, and a good essay, what do you think my chances of getting into UCLA or USC caliber schools would be?

I know I might not have the greatest GPA, but I feel that I am ambitious and have a great personality (I dont intend to be arrogant) that I could show to schools through an interview and essay.

Thanks Alot

is that SAT out of 1600 or 2400?

haha 1600...........

probably around 2150 or so i'd say out of 2400

Hmm...I would say that you should look for some other schools that are not so grade concious- UCLA ( and Cal for the matter) are notorious for grades, test scores...blah, blah. They really take into account the EC's after the quota match for academics- unless you've done something super amazing fabulous, I would say that you should shoot for some of the other UC's and other schools that, again, look for more well rounded applicants or applicants who may be weak academically but have demonstrated proficiency in other areas. The reason I say this is because you should think about the kids who apply to UCLA. Discounting out-of-state and international applicants, there is a huge swarm of California students with amazing gpas, outstanding test scores, and good EC's applying for a limited number of spots. The odds are weighend heavily against you- so take that in mind, and still apply because you never know! I am not as familiar with USC but from what I know, if you can really sell yourself great- fabulous essay, really highlight your EC's and work around your grade deficiencies, you could be a very likely candidate!

Good luck!

Thanks..

I'm also living in Florida so my chances are even slimer i'd say, but I'm not really interested in any FL schools except Miami.

Basically I'm looking for a nice campus in an awesome town. I don't want to go to a massive state school, but I'd still like there to be solid sports teams and a good greek life. I'm interested in Film, Business, and Political Science but am not completely sure what I would like to pursuit.

I'd love any other recommendations..
Thanks Alot

Oh and I'll have taken around 6 APs by the time I graduate so weighted my GPA will probably be over a 4.0 if that means anything. I also attend an extremely highly regraded gifted school

hmmmm

Do many people actually get accepted to a reach, or is it all luck at that point?

A kid graduating from my school had a 3.0, and a 1500 on his SAT and is going to Northwestern. He also got into Boston U, Northeastern, Miami, Trinity, and I think a few more.... Maybe its because the weighted GPAs at my school are all very heigh because it is such a tough schools? NeverthelessI guess you can always hope!

I saw that people have gotten accepted into Johns Hopkins with a sub 3.5 GPA unweighted which really gives me hope.

I would kill to go to Johns Hopkins, and who knows, maybe I'll get into one of my reach/extreme reach schools!
