3.5 gpa as a freshman what do i need to do

Hey guys. This is my first thread on this site.

So this is my story. I did really good in middle school got all A's and everything but then when I went to high school it was a whole other world. In middle school I barely ever studied for tests and easily got all a's while playing a sport. The first semester in high school i did the same and ended up with a dismal 3.5. I was so mad that I immediately tried to reform the way I study. I've been studying better and plan on getting a 3.83 for my second semester. I go to a pretty prestigious high school if that matters at all. What I wanted to know was what I would have to do to get in to u of m or a UC school. What gpa would I need to get in the following years, extra circulars, and such. I will be volunteering at a hospital next year as well. Also I wanted to know if my schedule is rigourous enough for colleges to respect it. I don't want to take all easy classes next year but I don't want to end up failing in all extremely hard classes. My sophmore schedule is below. I know that I have a long way to college but I want to assure that I get in to a good school and end up going to med school. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Algebra 2
Anatomy
Chemistry
AP US history
9LC
Spanish 3

First of all: calm down! You’re just a freshman and your GPA is not at all dismal. You still have time to bring it up to weighted score of well above a 4.0. Take as many APs as you possibly can in your next three years of high school, score well on your SAT and SAT IIs, and get really get involved in extracurricular activities that show your love for the medical sciences! Good luck.

You’re a freshman. Just try hard for the next 2 years…
