3.5 the magic number?

Is 3.5 the magic/minimum GPA requirement to transfer to Cornell, Dartmouth, Penn, Columbia, Williams, Colgate etc?

hell no its not

lol the magic number is 4.0...and even then it's not fullproof.

lol (10 chars)

You need like 3.85+ to transfer to those schools, plus exceptional high school records, test scores, and EC's. The more college units you have, though, the less your high school stats will be taken into consideration.

3.5 is the minimum that Williams College will even consider looking at, I know that much.

Who told you that lie?

uh oh :(
what about 3.7?

Are you referring to me nikkei? That's no lie.

Someone on this forum (not sure who) said they got into Columbia (I think) with a 3.5 GPA. The person said it all depends on the whole application you send out, meaning you have to have great Essays and Letters of Rec, outstanding ECs, and some good SAT scores to boot.

"I actually don't think that is true. I got into Harvard as a transfer with a 3.5 GPA--from Tufts University. And I have noticed that many of my fellow transfer classmates come from excellent schools. I think the most important factors of a transfer student's application is found beyond GPA and his/her original school. But a high GPA at a good school will definitely help at least."

No, not you, AndreMSkate.
