So i read on the peterson’s 2006 college guide that upenn’s entering freshman class had a gpa average of 3.6

is this true?

was it weighted or unweighted?

It has to be unweighted

I'm not sure about this but Penn might redo grades, such that A is 4.0, A- is 3.7, B+ is 3.3, etc. If that's true than 3.6 sounds possible.

First, the majority of HS's dont differentiate between A's, A-'s, B+'s, etc..its just ABCDE. From the impression I got from my brothers Penn friends, my summer at penn, and the info sessions, Penn isn't just about the kid with the perfect scores and laundry list of EC's. If tomorrow's leader is someone with a 1300 (gasp...i know thats like 0 to most people here), 600-700 SAT II's, 10-25% class rank, etc.....Penn will take em if they have the essays, the recs, and above all else, the passion and leadership.

I know a bunch of kids at Penn who got in with that mentality, not because they got a 2400 and a 3.96 gpa.

thanks for the words of encouragement brhchs06...

thats really nice to know becuz i thought i had no chance against everyone wit 3.9-4.0 GPA applicants...

same here.. my gpa falls around that level but i have some pretty good ECs.. ill just pray that penn sees them in the same light as i do ;)
