3.6 GPA but straight As in my math, physic, and engineer classes, what are my chances?

Please give me some advices.
I’m applying to transfer this semester as a mechanical engineer. I have 3.6 overall GPA,but i did very well in my math, physic, and engineer classes (all As except for 1 B in cal 2). I did lots of ECs, and my personal statement looks pretty good so far (I have several people reviewed it).
So what are my chances with UCB, UCLA, USC, and Cal Poly SLO?
and what school should I TAG as my back-up plan? UCD or UCI or UCR?

If you could increase your GPA over the course of the Fall semester, I’d say you’d be in pretty good shape. ME is really difficult to get into top schools. I’d imagine that you’d have a good chance at Cal Poly- UCB and UCLA are reaches, and I don’t know about USC. The average GPA for admitted ME majors at UCLA in 2014 was a 3.85 - try to bring it up to at least a 3.7, and I’d say you have a chance.

I think UCI is probably the best school for ME out of the TAG options you listed. I haven’t done extensive research, though - only a quick google search with no definitive answer. Apparently the school of engineering has a good reputation. I don’t know, though, you should research it for yourself to see where you’d like to have guaranteed admission.
