3.8 Weighted GPA, what are my chances of getting into these colleges?

Hello so I am an IB senior with a 3.5 unweighted and 3.8 weighted GPA. Basically freshman and sophomore year I had straight A’s in all honors classes and one AP class sophomore year. Junior I had a severe decline in my health (mental and physical) and got like one C mostly B’s and a couple of A’s in all IB classes. And I wrote my commonapp essay about the decline in my health. This semester I did similar to junior year and received a couple of As mostly Bs and one D in AP Physics. The reason I got a D was because there was someone in my class who I had traumatic experiences with and made me anxious and distracted (I mentioned this in my commonapp). My ACT score is a 23, super scored its 2-3 points higher I think. Any ideas of what my chances are of getting into these colleges. These aren’t all the colleges I applied to, but my current top choices. Thanks!

More info: Some of my extracurriculars are Girl Scouts, National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Speech and Debate.
I am fairly confident in the essays I wrote, I wrote about the most influential IB Courses I’ve taken such as Theory of Knowledge and art.

These ones are slightly selective and I’m curious about my chances of getting into these

Lake Forest College
Hofstra University
Reed College
University of Washington
University of Denver

Also some more selective colleges I applied to solely bc they are my dream schools and I just had to lol, I have no expectations of getting into these only a tiny sliver of hope lol
UC Berkeley
NYU
U of Chicago

I also have several safety schools like CU Boulder and CSU.

I have similar stats- a 3.48 weighted gpa and a 31 act superscore, so maybe I do have a hope of getting into my local state school

???

Some might characterize your “safeties” as “high matches” or “low reaches”:

You: 3.5 UW/23 ACT
CU Boulder: 3.62 UW/24-30 ACT
CSU: 3.59 UW/22-28 ACT

Of course, there is more to admissions than stats, but make sure to apply to some schools where your stats are above (and well above) their admissions averages.

lol I really don’t think so because they both have extremely high acceptance rates and you’re almost guaranteed to get into CU boulder as an IB student unless you totally fail.

Hope it works out for you.

CU Boulder ACT average is 27.

Enrolled Freshmen ACT:
30-36: 27%
24-29: 54%
18-23: 18%

You might want to read the “Parents of the HS class of 2017-3.0-3.4” thread. Many of the students described on this thread have higher GPAs than this range but low-ish GPAs, have good strengths but a noticeable deficit, have few ECs, or are particularly pointy in some way (or simply don’t care so much about rankings.) Basically the thread represents good to very good normal kid stats that aren’t in the superstar category. Acceptances are rolling in, so reading this thread might help you to see patterns, and help you figure out some safeties (if there’s still time to apply to some.)

In the meantime, could you find a way to get help with your anxieties and how your environment seems to affect them? College will present all kinds of opportunities to feel anxious that will affect your ability to do well there. I think admissions officers will not only want to know what contributed to your grade drops, but (more important) what you are doing NOW to prevent that from re-occurring. You should do this for yourself, regardless of college acceptance, but on their end, colleges will want to know they are making a good investment in accepting you.

Thank you, this is very helpful. And yes I did discuss that in my essay.

I think you’ll get into all of your slightly selective colleges.
None of your reaches though. Your test scores are not good enough.

^ I hope OP gets in everywhere, too. Here are stats for those “slightly selective” colleges:

(OP 3.5/23)
Lake Forest 3.69/22-28
Hofstra 3.62/24-29
Denver 3.71/23-30
Washington 3.78/26-31
Reed 3.9/29-33

Keep in mind, these are from two admissions cycles ago (2015), and every year it is a little harder to get into many of these schools.

I think UW-Seattle and especially Reed will be hard for you.

Reed decided to extend their regular decision deadline to January 17th, does that mean not enough people applied or something?

Columbia also extended their deadline, I don’t think it’s because there is not enough people.
