ok so im kinda worried. I go to a super competitive high school (top 300 in the nation) and I’m a junior. I have a 3.85 uw gpa and will have this gpa going into senior year. I got 2 b’s freshman year, 1 sophomore, and none junior year with 6 aps. the thing is, I made really, really dumb mistakes and could easily have gotten a 3.95 gpa instead, and only end with 1 b in 3 years. I also got a 1570 in the October sat. Are my academics still in contention for ivies?
With a 5% chance of acceptance, a 3.85 instead of a 3.95 isn’t going to make acceptance any less lousy. It’s more a lottery than a competition. That being said, your GPA isn’t a dealbreaker. Just apply to a wide variety of match and safety schools you’re serious about and apply to a few Ivy league schools. Trust me…it’s NOTHING to stress over. Even if you get in, you might find that it’s a poor fit for you anyway.
I agree with @coolguy40. If you apply to lots of colleges and have impressive extracurriculars, you’ll be absolutely fine and bound to get into a top school.
