3.93 GPA. Withdrawal from Calculus. UC chances?

I've gone through some personal issues recently and regretfully decided to withdraw from my Calculus 1 class. It an 8 week difficult class and many of my smart classmates were struggling as well. I had a C and could have possibly gotten an A if I had done well on the remaining tests but I was very stressed out and decided to focus my energy on my other classes. Because I withdrew from the class, I'll probably be able to get A's in my other classes. I've never withdrawn from a class before and have only received one B at my community college (3.93 GPA). I've begun the process of applying to UC schools but I'm nervous about how the W will look. Calculus 1 and 2 is also prerequisite for my intended major (business, maybe Berkeley's Haas but I'm open to other majors/schools at this point.) There are two accelerated 8 week Calculus 1 and Calculus 2 classes in the Spring that I could take with a different teacher. I'll have a lighter schedule and am determined to do better. Would a school like Haas take a chance on me when 2 of my major prerequisites (Calculus 1 and 2) have not been completed (they would be completed in the Spring if I took the two accelerated classes). I would receive a grade for the first accelerated Calculus 1 class in March and the Calc 2 class I would received a grade in May. Would it be too late for the UC'S to see my grades in those prerequisite class. I have completed all my other prerequisites with straight A's. Will this W severely affect my chances?

" would receive a grade for the first accelerated Calculus 1 class in March and the Calc 2 class I would received a grade in May. Would it be too late for the UC’S to see my grades in those prerequisite class"

Yes that would be too late.

“I have completed all my other prerequisites with straight A’s. Will this W severely affect my chances?”

Any Ws you have will not be looked at, they are essentially erased as if you never took a class. (Doesn’t matter if you had 20). That being said the “hole” they leave may or may not effect your chances, for example, how you’re missing calculus. I was in a very similar situation to you last year in fact, and had a W from Calculus 1. I ended up being accepted to all the UCs I applied to, UC Berkeley, UCSD, UCSB, UCI, and UCSC. Of course there are a few differences, I was applying to UCB L&S, but my GPA was also way lower than yours. (3.68), and also you have to factor in any extracurricular differences. To sum it up, it’s really hard to say for certain if you’re accepted, but I wouldn’t automatically assume you aren’t just because of one W. I did and missed out on a lot of sleep I could’ve had.

Thanks for responding! That’s awesome you were accepted to all the UCs you applied to! I feel kind of bad about taking the W but I think it was ultimately the right decision. Hopefully showing that I’m going to complete the prerequisites by spring will be enough, even if they don’t see the grades in time.
