Withdrawal from Calculus I. UC chances?

I am an international student attending at De Anza College. I took all my pre-calculus with pass/no pass grading, even though I am pretty sure I got A’s in all of them. I didn’t want to risk my GPA so I went with pass/no pass to focus on other subjects. However, I just dropped Calculus I this spring quarter with a W because I didn’t like my professor’s lecture. My current GPA is now 3.91 because I got a B in photography the first quarter and A- in Statistics. I have no extracurriculars since I live very far away from college to attend on campus activities. I plan to complete the whole Calculus series by the end of spring 2016 after getting tutored and studying during this summer. My major is Business Administration which requires Calculus as a major prerequisite. Is the UC admission going to see my grades for next year? I plan to apply to UCB (Haas), UCLA, and UCI Fall 2016. Do you all think I still have a good chance getting into one of these schools?

Ok, so you have one W, one B (not in a major requirement), and one A-. Don’t be so hard on yourself. You’re fine GPA-wise. Re pre-reqs, you’ll probably more or less get a pass from UCLA and UCI, esp if you note distance from home to school. However, Haas is another story. You REALLY need ECs for Haas. Can you get an internship? You need something – finance/business/strong leadership-related-- or that will be the downfall there.

You’re applying in Nov. It’s pretty late in the game for Haas, if I’m going to be totally honest with you. If you really have no ECs, you might want to consider another UCB major.

And they see your Fall 2015 grades and your planned Spring 2016 coursework.

Agree with lindy re: Haas. You need something, it could be anything. Tutor kids in your native language, join a club on campus, find something.

I am in marketing club and I joined international student volunteer last quarter.I don’t know if that matters much.
