There are 5 people in my suite but there are only 3 bedrooms, which means that 1 person will have to live solo. As an incoming freshman, do you recommend trying to get the room by myself?

Thanks.

1) You won’t be solo since you are in a suite.

2) The Instructions from Harvard talk about all roommates making the decision on who gets which room, bed, etc and that the solution may be a switching of who has which room during the year though in a quint I am not sure that you would rotate 5 people in and out of the single.

when i moved in my freshman year we put all the names in a hat and then drew. whoever came out first got first choice etc. the rooms may be different sizes. i would recommend taking the double first semester (it can be a really good bonding experience to sleep in the same room as someone) and then trying to get the single second semester (depending on how roommate dynamics end up working out)

Hmmm, in Grays by chance? Anyway, I preferred having one of the doubles because then I and my roommate really bonded since we would have many late night conversations, and I still have the best ties with him as opposed to the other three. Nonetheless, the common room serves as an equally great opportunity to bond with all of your suitemates.
