3 day new student orientation

To anyone who has been to the mandatory LC new student orientation how long does it last? I called the office in today and got a complete moron who said he did not "understand" my question when I asked how long it lasts. I am wondering because I read that it can go into the late evening and I'm wondering how late exactly? I don't want to be at orientation all day for three days straight...

First of all it’s not really mandatory, I skipped like 75% of it. But you should go because it’s a great way to meet people. They do have events that go on at like 6:00 pm and even later at like 9:00 but the really late ones are not “mandatory”. It’s three days because the first is an intro, the second is a social day if I remember correctly and the last is about academics where you’ll meet your adviser and stuff.

hey! i’m going to be one of your OLs (orientation leaders) for LC!

the actual orientation-y orientation part lasts a majority of the day, but with regular breaks to do other things that are supposed to be more fun and get you acclamated to the school in a different sort of way. for example, one day you might be in the auditorium for a lot of the day learning about all of the academic policies, residential life things, and all about student life, and then have a lunch break for a picnic or barbeque with a DJ, or learn how to use the caf, or go into a few different workshops where you can learn about something specific you might have a question in (some i did last year were like, theatre for nonmajors, getting around the city, how to get involved, etc), and then the afternoon might consist of a skit that pokes fun of the freshman experience, or have a speaker come in.

in between all these activities we break into “small groups” where you and about 10 other students meet with your OL (oh hey!) and we answer all the many sorts of questions you will undoubtably have, as well as play ice breakers in order for you to get to know your small group-mates better.

in the evening, it’s highly encouraged that you stick around on campus and take part in the activities we have so you can get to know your fellow freshmen and see what fun student life we can have at FCLC! we really do try hard to make it enjoyable for everyone, and not a miserable experience, as long as you go into it excited to finally be at college and with an open mind. :)

Hey, ramfan2013…if my S does Urban Plunge and moves in early, can my family still come in for the Family Mass on 8/29? Just wondering if you knew since you said you are an OL! Thanks! :)

Being a part of Urban Plunge doesn’t keep you out of any of the orientation activities. I’m positive if you’d like to attend the Family Mass you’d be more than welcome!

I did Urban plunge and attended the family mass last year at rose hill

Fabulous! Thanks guys! :)
