3 Girls, similar stats, same school...who gets in?

My stats mirror a hybrid of person A and C...

4.0 UW, SAT I: 2200, 700s on SAT IIs, top 3%, leadership positions in many clubs...

I'm at Johns Hopkins right now :D Since each of you are highly qualified individuals, it really depends whether you can touch a tone with the admissions officer reading your essay. The essay is the only form of medium that can convey intangible life experiences that standardized testing and raw numbers simply cannot explain.

Good luck applying to JHU! :D

Don't schools not directly compare students from the same school? I thought they compare you more to the opportunities you've had at your school and not so much with other students...

I would say person C because they have the most dedication to a single thing (drama). Unless the AO has seen alot of drama applicants and potential theater majors, person C would stick out more with a decent GPA, SAT's etc. It would come down to the essay and other factors though.

I've changed my mind, I think person C as well, I'd say B after that...then A. B and C have better ECs and their stats are comparable to A (the ECs are worth more than the .1 difference in GPA to me, especially since they all have 3.8+ GPAs which is excellent). Of course, if one wrote a stellar essay or had incredible recs it could push them ahead.

I would pick B. but who knows.

it's hard to judge with only stats. i'd say this would boil down to intangible factors, and i wouldn't be surprised at any combination of the three being accepted/rejected.

I personally would choose person B. I don't know. I think research EC particularly stands out for a research oriented school like JHU. JHU however is currently putting a lot more emphasis on its humanities programs and would like to have a more diversified student body. Who knows, Person A, B, and C could be accepted, who knows...

Person B for sure

B or C, but probably not A due to the ECs. Hopefully you're not A! :)

I think it's going to come down to who was meant to go to JHU, all three applicants are so close in stats and very similar. Whoever was meant by fate to go to JHU will and whoever wasn't, is not going to and will still get into a very good school, just not JHU.

I'd pick C, if all were equal in pretty much every other regards (race, legacy, etc). B would be my second choice.
