3 hours left to apply - or no hours left to apply?

In three minutes, it will be 2nd January on the East Coast. However it's 20:57 in California. Do I have 3 hours to finish my Harvey Mudd app, or just 3 minutes?

three hours!

SAME HERE BRO.

DO IT SOON

I’ve heard that the deadline is 11:59pm EST

The Common App staff answers this on their Facebook page

common app posted on their Facebook/twitter “Submissions are recorded in Eastern Time, but as long as you submit on deadline day by 11:59 PM your local time you’ve met the deadline.”

I saw it, but I’m not talking about my local time, I’m talking about Harvey Mudd’s time(I’m not from California…).

it’s due at midnight your time.

Schools want you to apply. It definitely says something about you if you can’t plan your time well enough to meet a deadline, and your demonstrated interest, of course. On the other hand, schools WANT people to apply - it makes their stats look good and frankly, you’d be dumb to turn down a student who would be an asset to the school and who really wants to attend just because they missed the deadline by an hour.

I have to believe that ‘good faith efforts’ to get the application in on time are going to be honored rather than trashed. I have yet to hear of any function in the admissions office known as ‘trashing the late apes’ where staff sit around on Jan 2 and hit the delete button over and over to eliminate those pesky people who can’t follow instructions.

This isn’t to say you shouldn’t get it in on time - but I also worry about kids who say, ‘I missed the deadline so it’s probably all over for me’ at school X. If they actually called the admissions office, I suspect they would be told to submit anyway.

All common app member colleges with a Jan 1 deadline will accept any app submitted on Jan 2. https://twitter.com/commonapp

Thank you immensely, niceday!
Really great news.
