so I recently got my AP Scores...and let's say Chem put a damper on my summer. I'm really disappointed in myself. I felt like I was borderline 3 or 4, but It seems I got a 3.

I took the SAT subject tests in may right before the AP tests and I got a 700 in Chem and a 730 in Bio-M.

I plan on retaking them both along with Math 2 in the fall...hopefully to get an 800 in Biology and hopefully 740+ in Chem.

I'm just looking for an opinion on my decision, the only reason I'm taking the subject tests is to send them to Stanford, UCBerkeley, and maybe Oberlin. If I send both scores (AP and SAT) in for Chem to those schools [before I retake them], do you think the SAT score would make the AP score look a bit better? How about if I retake them and do better?

I mean, I might have felt sick that day and was having a bad day...truth is I sort of panicked during the test a little too much during the multiple choice, and I was being retarded in the FRQs...and this was my first AP test ever, so I was more prepared for Bio than Chem..hehe

Anyway, should I retake? (I probably will no matter what, but just looking for some opinions out there) if I do better, will it help?

well if you got a 5 on ap bio maybe you should retake the 730 but still its a great score. The 700 for chem you might consider retaking its like on the border so yea above 740+ would be good. If you have confidence you can get 800 on bio go for it!

Just don’t send/worry about AP scores (I got a 5 on chem and still won’t, I don’t think it’s that common to send those in) If you want to worry over something though, worry over the 700

yeah i got a 3 on chem and a 5 on bio too.
im hoping that a 780 on SATII chem will make up for it and I feel like a 5 on bio means that the SATII is unessasary

SAT Subject Tests are used for college admissions, AP Tests are used for college course placement and credit. Although AP scores can be reported on a college application, the purposes of these two tests are pretty much different.

@Soccer4kk - Why would you say a 5 on AP Biology makes the Biology Subject Test unnecessary? I would say you should have taken both this spring while Biology was fresh in your mind and proven that you could perform well on both kinds of tests.

@PianoGal - I actually don’t see any real correlation between AP scores and SAT Subject Test scores. My friend got a 5 on her AP US History and a 690 on her US History Subject Test. Another friend got a 4 on her AP and a 790 on her Subject Test. The tests are designed differently. In terms of retaking, you may want to, but you may want to explore other tests you can take because you don’t want to have to spend time keeping all the Chemistry and Biology fresh in your mind.
