I got a 3 on both my ap euro and ap bio tests. I was really mad and surprised at the same time... I thought I could at least get a 4. :( Does colleges consider these scores a lot during the application processes?

well, if you have taken 4+ other APs with 4s and 5s it should be fine. However, a 3 average doesn’t look too hot.

But I have seen people with 2s and 1s get into Ivy League, so…

thanks for your input.

yeah. i only took two ap tests (bio and euro history) and got 3 on both of them. and i also got a B both semesters on both classes. im taking three ap’s my senior year.

i was aiming for ivy league and top private colleges… but this will definitely negatively affect me right??

No, it won’t at all. I got a 2 and I am going to Northwestern. You don’t send in your official scores until after you’ve been accepted.

ap scores are more of an afterthought in the admission process, they may push you over the edge, but if the rest of your application is strong it won’t matter much
however, if you got b’s both semesters in both ap classes than ivy league will be tough for you- you are competing with kids who took more than two ap classes and got higher grades in their classes than you

Of course it will affect your admission chances. The question really should be “how much would it affect them?”

lazyaznboy: your stat looked great. lol. so that probably made up for the 2.

ok. thanks everyone. so to summarize… it WILL affect my chances. :(

sorry. another question: should i send in the scores to colleges?? or would it be better to just not send them?

Ya. I sympathize with you. I have 5 4s and a 3… o.O
AP Chem, APUSH, APWH, AP Bio, AP Eng Lang all 4s and AP French Lang 3…

Would that look bad? I mean, i havent recieve ONE 5 yet, and my next chance is going to be after the college app process… Does it also matter which APs they were? I mean, its not like they were jokes like AP Human Geo or AP Psych… they were all fairly labor intensive… is that going to be recognized? Would this be a case of well roundedness or indecisiveness?

Ok there’s been way too many threads about this, so let me just throw out this scenerio.

Person A gets seven 5s and two 2s and Person B gets four 5s.

How can you compare the two people? You can’t, as they took different tests and different number of tests. Also, you can argue both ways…Person A challenge himself/herself and took more AP tests and got more 5s. Of course, Person B got all 5s on the tests he/she took…however, if Person B took the 2 tests that person A got a 2 on, he/she would have gotten 1s because Person B didn’t even learn that material.

My point: since there’s so much variance in AP tests between people (unlike the SAT/ACT/some SAT II for some colleges which are required, not a single AP test is required…and many people don’t take the same ones).

DanER - You’re similar to me except that you took A LOT more ap classes and only got one 3, while i only took two ap classes and got 3 on both of them. So i’m more in a dilemma than you are in.

HiPeople - Thanks for sharing. I’ll try harder next year… since I can’t do anything about my scores now…
