This is what Harvard says on Collegeboard.com:

Recommended units:
English 4
Frgn-Language 4
History 2
Math 4
Science 4
Social Studies 3

Foreign Language : I have already taken AP French, starting at French I as a freshman. Basically, I only have 3 years. Do I still not meet the 4 required for foreign language?

Social Studies / History : Apparently, we need 3 years of Social Studies, and 2 years of History. But can’t these overlap? So far, I have taken WorldHistory (9th), AP Euro (10th), AP US (11th), AP Psych (11th), and next year I will take AP USGov/Comp politics. Do I meet the requirements?

Science: I have taken Bio Honors (9th), and Chemistry during the summer before 11th grade. Will I need to take 2 science courses next year as a senior, or only 1, should I count AP Psychology as a science?

Thanks!

Why don’t you ask Harvard admissions instead of asking well meaning, but possibly misinformed strangers here?

I don’t think Harvard even has requirements…they are just recommendations.

I know for sure the foreign language 3 years is fine. My friend last year only took 3 years (and no AP like you) and got into Harvard.

AP Language is considered Year #5, so you’re good to go.

AP Psych is not history nor a lab science. Yes, AP Gov counts as History.

Did the Chem course count as a full year or just one semester? In any event, yes you can boost your chances by taking a lab science, such as physics.

(I get confused with social studies and history, I get mix classes with both when I ask the main difference)

thanks. it’s great to know i don’t need to worry about foreign language any more

the chemistry summer course counted for 2 semesters, and i’m taking honors physics next year, so i’ll have 3 years of lab science. i might also take AP environmental science, so I would end up with 4 units of science with 3 units of lab science, right?

and now, for social studies/history… which of my classes would fulfill 3 recommended units of social studies? i know that AP is probably one of them…
