3 SAT IIs

Test-taking is fun! I am going to take six:

World History, American History, Literature (January)
Math II, Physics, Chemistry (June)

Maybe I can fit Biology in there somewhere too...

Hey, you know what? If it's on their website (and it most certainly is) then they HAVE to accept it.

I know! You'd think that Yale being the school that it is, would have clearer instructions on its website. Maybe it's done intentionally to weed out people who don't care enough to investigate deeper? Hmm...

::shakes fist angrily::

This is the first thing I don't like about Yale!

Lol, too funny....I just took the three tests a few hours ago, Spanish, Literature, and History. The Spanish and Literature were pretty simple, I'm almost sure that I'll score above 700 for those, and maybe above 750....it's a bit ironic (considering some of the firsts posts) that I thought the US History was HARD!!! I omitted, like, 7, and I was iffy on a ton of my answers...oh well, if I screwed it up too badly, I'll just retake it in November...sighs sadly

Yeah, I was totally iffy on some of US History as well....
Did you know the immigration questions? The one about the Immigration Act of 1965 (or something like that), I had no clue at all. None. Never even HEARD of it.
Maybe there'll be a nice curve.

I'd heard of it, that's the sad part...I think my teacher had mentioned it briefly during the AP review sessions last year, so I was killing myself over not remembering. I'm praying for a curve, too, cuz I can bet a whole lot of people (myself included) are really gonna need it! Lol

Me too.
By the way, it is now confirmed that Yale IS accepting the SAT II Writing Exam. I emailed the admissions rep for my region, and he says it's all good.

Hmm I'm so confused. If they do decide they're accepting SAT II writing, then can I refund from collegeboard.com?

Have you already taken the test you want a refund for?

I emailed the admissions rep from my area and she confirmed what was on the website too.

And no I haven't taken the test I want a refund for. I was planning on taking the SAT II Literature in November in lieu of the Writing test, but now it seems I won't have to. But it seems that I won't be getting my money back from collegeboard.com. Oh well :)

Eh, you should go ahead and take lit...unless you're really bad at it. I thought it was pretty easy.

As for APUSH versus SAT II, I would take scores with a grain of salt. I got a 5 on the AP test and then I took the subject test, with substantial reviewing (like 3-4 weeks) and only got a 690. I was so disappointed, especially considering the fact that I didn't study at all for the AP test because I was focused on the Language exam.

I think part of it is the fact that AP scores have essays and SAT II's don't... I got a 5 on the AP and studied really hard for the SAT II as well and got a 750. I'm perfectly happy with that; I'm just saying that not everyone can get a 5 and a 760. I'm pretty good at bs-ing essays though so that's probably why.
And most schools (at least the ones I have looked at - Ivies, Stanford, MIT, etc.) are saying they will take the old SAT II Writing as an SAT II.

Ehhh, well, I did...okay....on the US History exam. Actually, it was a lot better than i thought i would have done! I was sooooo lost over the exam, i was thinking i'd get, like, a 400 or a 500....nope! i got an okay score (okay for other colleges, but low for Yale) Between a 600 and a 670. Lol, I'm sort of embarrassed over the score, even though its decent for most colleges!
So, final scores for me:
Literature: 750
Spanish: 750
US History: 600<x<670..lol (btw, it's greater than or equal to 600, and less than or equal to 670, but the keyboard doesn't have the correct sign..all dumb, i know!)

Can't you submit the ACT in place of the SAT and the SAT IIs?

yes you can.

We e-mailed the Yale admissions councilor for this area yesterday to clarify the correct number of required SAT II's. He said that even after taking the regular SAT with the Writing there are still an additional 3 SAT II's that are required. The earlier comments about using the Writing test from the regular SAT as if it were a SAT II is not correct.
