Hey anyone out there transfer to a UC in 3 or more years, rather than the ambitious 1 or 2 year transfers? I'm just wondering how your lives worked out after transferring. Actually I would love to hear success stories about your experiences after your transfer. I myself will probably not be transferring to my dream school by the end of my second year, but I get that I'm still young and blah. I just thought this can shine light on those who aren't like the high school academic geniuses but still became beautifully successful/ happy in life :)

I am transferring this year after 4 years at CC to UCSD. I was done with most of my prereqs last year but I decided to wait one more year since I had family issues. As long as you work hard in your classes, You will be successful in transferring to your dream school.
Good luck to you!

I spent 1ish years at a 4-yr (accomplished nothing) and 3 years at my CC. I am too lazy to tell my story, but it’s no big deal.

It really is the significance of your path and not the time you get there. thanks for the stories.

I just finished up my 3rd year at community college this past summer and will be traveling up to UCD on the 17th (my assigned move-in day is the 18th, but it takes about 8-9 hours to get there from SoCal via car, so my mom and I are leaving a day early). My 1st year was pretty much taking a bunch of easy courses because I didn’t know what I wanted to major in yet.

Iam a biochem major transferring from a CC. It took me 3 years after HS to transferred. In my opinion transfer students are more successful in maintain a high GPA than freshman.

8 years -> Cal.

Graduated from High school in 2001, transferring to UCSD for the 2011-2012 school year.

3 years of CC -> Berkeley.

Nothing too exciting. Took it slow because of a medical condition - which prevented me from doing as well as I could have in high school.

Umm, if you want to count my collective years… hahahaha. I started CC in 2004… with several breaks in between… but I’ve been at SMC since Fall 2008, taking one class at a time, eventually building up, so it’s hard to do the math. But I finally figured out what I wanna major in and got serious last year, so I am slated to apply to transfer in Fall 2012. :/

I am. I’m on my 4th year of CC right now. I was supposed to transfer to UCD this year, but I got rescinded.

^

Sorry to hear that.
