30 ACT Math which SAT II

Going into engineering and want to look good in math for chance at competitive schools (ie: Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, Cornell). My biggest problem isn't knowing the material, it's time. I never get to the end of the ACT math section and have to guess on at least 8 of the last problems. Don't know if I'll encounter the same problem with SAT II's since this will be my first time taking them. At this point I have a 30 on the ACT math and am taking Calculus this year. Thoughts on Math SAT I or SAT II in my situation? How do the time constraints compare to the ACT test? Thanks!

They're both pretty easy. The Math 1 questions are easy, but the curve is tough. On the other hand, the Math 2 questions are harder, but the curve is very easy- you can get a bunch wrong before any points are deducted whatsoever.

I'd advise taking both- college admissions people are truly for you (contrary to what people think). If you truly do well on one and not the other (and they don't require SATIIs/require 3 and you have 3 good 1 bad), they'll turn a blind eye. If you were able to get two high scores, it could really help your app.

If it helps, my subscores on a 1-18 score for the ACT were:

prealgebra/elemtary algebra 17
int algebra/coord geometry 13 (ouch)
plane gemoetry/trigonometry 18

which is covered more in SAT II?

Thanks again for any advice!

everything is covered................pre-calc

30 math is low....considering how easy it is.

dude, just cause you did better don't hate on other people.

Believe me....I know 30 is low. As I mentioned, I know the stuff, I just can't go quick enough. I'm going to really work on it and will retake in October. Since it is low, I really feel like I need to do well on the SAT II Math, which is why I want any advice people who have taken it can offer.
