I'm a junior, going to be a senior in September, and I got a 32 on the APril ACT.My subscores are English: 31 (70/75) Math: 35 (59/60) Reading 31 (37/40) and Science:31 (37/40). My math is just about perfect and I know i could probably get a 36 on the september ACT.

What is the best way to improve on english, reading, and science? What are the best review books to use? I was thinking of buying the Barrons 36 ACT and the Barrons Reading/English workbook to study for over the summer. Are those books effective? I really want to get atleast a 34 on the september ACT.The SAT just doesnt click for me, i got a 1950 and 2000 respectively in March and May. With the ACT, im confident i can score a 34 + with practice.

I used Princeton review act guide and got 35’s on the english both times I took test. English is relatively easy to study for because you just have to learn a list of grammar rules.I have no experience with barron’s, but it’s probably good.

For the science and reading, I would just get practice tests. There are some strategies, like going straight to the questions in science, but other than that they are hard to study for. You should definitely get the red book to practice with because they are real ACT’s, and if you want you could get practices from other sources. You will probably improve just by taking the test again and gaining confidence.

I am in the same situation and also interested in any replies people have. I screwed up in April, going E:35 M:34 R:34 and then the freaking Science:30. I missed a 34 by one question, and I have no idea how I did so poorly in science. I was planning on taking it again in September, after de-stressing during the summer and taking some practice tests.
