How impressive is a 32 ACT score to top schools?

it’s good-ish but it’s not a strength of your app. by a long shot (if by “top” schools you mean ivies and top LACs).

Yea like I was able to increase from a 27 to a 32 on the ACT administration this past June but im not sure if this score is competitive for the ivies/other selective schools. I have a 3.9UW GPA and great ec and community service.

but i guess what it narrows down to is if I should retake again in september or keep this score based on my other stats?

if you feel that the rest of your application is super strong, then leave it be. but obviously, the better your score, the better your odds (in general).

side note, if your 3.9 UW GPA was attained by taking low-level classes, then don’t expect to get into ivy leagues. although if you got a 32 then i assume you are a hardworking, smart kid in honors and AP classes.

if you want to compare, i also have a 32 ACT, 4.4 WGPA and 3.85 UWGPA. based on me as a person, i don’t think i would thrive at ultra selective/competitive schools. my college application process will consist of finding schools with great, underrated programs and getting merit scholarships. however, if i wanted to, i think i could possibly get into (reach) selective schools like northwestern-caliber. idk, maybe im underrating myself, but like i said, it’s not for me.

if you wanna talk more about specifics, feel free to message me or keep posting here

A 32 is great for most schools. For Ivy League schools it’s on the low end (I think a 33+ is what you really want for those schools).

32 is excellent for most schools, and even for some Ivy consideration if your GPA, EC’s, etc. are stellar.
