So I got kicked out UCLA due to bad grades and I am finally getting my life back in order. So when I left I had a D and a B- and the rest were withdrawals. I know the process to get back in, however I don’t know what to major in or what to do. I know I can’t do an impacted major so can y’all suggest a major I can do when I go back to UCLA.

When were you dismissed and did you participate in the Bruin Readmission program? What are your interests?
You are 32 years old? When were you dismissed from UCLA?
I know you would like to return there, but really…are there not other colleges that you could enroll in a bit more easily?
What have you done since your dismissal to demonstrate that you can handle college course material with decent grades? Taken some CC courses? Worked? What?
Sample of one, my DH. He was dismissed from an Ivy League school because of poor grades. He worked for about 7 years and then decided he wanted to return to college. The Ivy was NOT on the table…at all. He enrolled in our local community college at age 28 and took courses there for two years. He did very well, and then transferred to a four year college where he finished his degree in two more years. Has had a very successful career.
His strong performance at the CC was certainly considered more than his then 9 year old failing grades from his Ivy.
I got dismissed in 2008/9 and I am currently taking 30 units at two community colleges. At dvc and de anza.
I’m looking to go back as a history major.
That’s great that you are taking courses now. Hoping you are doing very well. Have you discussed your future plans with the transfer advisor at the CC?

Apply as a History major if those are the major prep classes you are taking at your CC.

Since so much time as elapsed, can you still apply for readmission without going through the transfer process? If you are eligible, then what other majors would allow credit for the courses you have taken at the CC?
You are looking to go back as a History major. So I’m confused - why don’t you know what to major in?
