36 ACT best school for pre-med

OSU is pretty clear about what they offer and it isn’t a ton, though if you are top 3% it gets a little better. But still much stingier than Miami, IMO: http://undergrad.osu.edu/money-matters/scholarships.html

@ssjr16, I’ll send you a PM.

Guidance at my school said I had a good shot at the Eminence Fellows Program and Scholarship

They only award the Eminence Scholarship to 25 students. You will see in this thread that many very high stat kids don’t get it. I agree that you should certainly apply, but don’t count on it.

OP,
most private colleges that provide Merit $$ dont offer full rides.
please clarify if full tuition, but not R&B in addition, is what you are seeking.
Check out Rhodes- another top CC student won a full tuition scholarship there and is now at Yale Med school.

This issue is not unique to Duke; it would be true of many competitive merit scholarships
(vs. the automatic scholarships listed at yolasite.com).
For example, Providence College has a merit scholarship for minority students of Hispanic or Portuguese heritage from Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.
The Common Data Set (section H) does not distinguish restricted from unrestricted merit awards.

In any event, OSU doesn’t get the OP this:

Of course, most college students’ “whole college experience” is that of attending a commuter school as a commuter, and even those attending college as a residential student most commonly stay in-state, or perhaps go to a nearby state.

Because there are options at these schools? As I mentioned previously, the last super high student from the high school where I work had full ride (scholarship) options at both - and U Miami in FL (and Pitt and probably a couple of other places I’m not remembering). She turned down Stanford (full pay aside from some other outside scholarships she won) for one of these full rides (+ some summer perks) and is quite happy.

Needless to say, she was quite a competitive applicant. Awards are possible, but not guaranteed.

@menloparkmom I am sure full-tuition would be enough since I have already received some outside scholarships and am in the running for a number of others. This cc site has been so helpful in sending me in the right direction to seek these out. I am blessed to have come across this wonderful group.

OP,
then BE SURE to complete your application to USC [ Southern Calif] BEFORE the Dec 1 scholarship deadline.
Otherwise you wont be even eligible for their full tuition scholarships.

baylor will give you at least $20k a year; you can get more if you get into their medical scholars program or if you are selected for their Invitation to Excellence full tuition scholarship (but you’re required to go to a weekend event on campus in order to be able to apply for it).

My family and I attended a wedding in Chicago this past weekend and just for the heck of it my parents took me to Northwestern. Took a tour, talked to some department heads and fell in love with the school. I have added this to my list. Now I better start working on my applications.

which of the ivy’s is best for premed?

There is no “best for premed”. All the Ivies will have great support for their student body. You just need to take premed classes.

try Holy Cross in Massachusetts great pre-med. Nice campus with strong alumni network.

Forgot to update. I got into Stanford REA. All my dreams are coming true now.

congrats!
