I’ve done very well in Spanish 1 and 2. However, I haven’t enjoyed Spanish recently. This semester for Spanish, I have been taught by a brand-new teacher. She is extremely strict, and we don’t get to play games at all in her class unlike with our older teacher. It’s not that his class was “easy”, it was just fun. In fact, the games helped me learn the stuff easier. I know a lot of upper colleges want 3 years. However, I don’t want to drop choir and/or anatomy just for a class I probably wouldn’t even enjoy. What to do?
most colleges expect 4 years of language, so just stay in spanish and try to do well
What year are you? My son did 3 years of Latin in grades 7-9, then got bored and switched to Russian (which he loves) for grades 10-12. I don’t believe that the switch will reflect poorly on him. Your Spanish will help you with other romance languages. Give it a go.
If those are the colleges you are targeting, then stick it out another year.
Nobody every said that classes are supposed to be fun and games.
If you want to go to a more competitive college or your state flagship, suck it up and take Spanish 3. If you’re aiming for a state directional, it probably won’t matter as long as you apply early in the application season.
One thing to keep in mind is that you’ll have no chance of placing out of any college foreign language requirements which might be much more painful over the long term than just sticking with Spanish 3 now. College teachers can be boring too and the pace will probably be faster.
@skieurope Listen up here. I never said that it was supposed to be all fun and games. But I feel the teacher shouldn’t make the class MISERABLE for her students.
