4.0 rejected by ucla

Hhaha i was just looking at the statistics for 2005. I wonder why the rejected this person....

Russian Language and Lit 2 1 50.00% 0.02% 3.96 3.92 110 105

The rejected person had a 4.0 and 71 units. The accepted person had a 3.92 and 105 units. The only thing I can think of (since both GPAs are extremely competitve) is that the requirements weren't completed or that 1 unit (if not from a CCC) screwed this person out of admission.....guess we'll never know but interesting anyway

w tee eff? that sucks maybe the guy lied on his app?

yah, maybe he lied? Or maybe he didn't complete IGETC in time?

What's IGETC?

wow way to scare us all now...

Is IGETC really that important? I heard from credible sources that IGETC is NOT an admission requirement.

Are those semester or QUARTER units...?

IGETC CAN BE VERY IMPORTANT, depending on the major and school.

Didn't have his english classes or math classes?

yeah..that could be the only rational way he didn't get in

the listed are quarter units. 71 was 107 uints divided by 1.5.

stilll ..pretty crazy though .. to get a 4.0 in 71 units is not that easy .. especially transferable units. .. If he can get As in all of those classes .. i don't think he would have trouble finish up his math and english classes .. and since he's not major in math .. all he has to take is Stat class and get done with it ? For english - since it's his major .. I think he would have finish most of it before applying right?

Anyway - now I don't know what do do .. seems like .. everything is unpredictable .. just try ur best and pray that some schools will be nice enough to accept you

You're wrong, Littleblue. It's not "pretty crazy though." There are definitely examples of people with 4.0s who didnt complete the basic requirements and therefore MUST be rejected.

It's wrong to think this is a "ghost in the system."
