Communication is about more effective communication and that applies to lots of fields, in fact, all fields. Companies don't work well together and if you don't understand that comment, you probably haven't worked much. Organizing people to accomplish common goals is all about communication and I wouldn't call that PR or advertising? Would you?

One of my professors pointed out that the big accomplishment with the early space program was not that we actually put somebody on the moon as surprising as that may seem. It was that we were able to organize and communicate among the vast numbers of people required to accomplish the goal. Many tools for more effective communication came from that effort, e.g. pert. Yes, it was an accomplishment in communications.

People like nspeds like getting people upset and not interested in actually communicating or even exchanging information. He won't respond to you unless he feels he can upset you more. Oh, they are called sociopaths and are only interested in their own needs and desires. Hopefully, he is a philosophy major - maybe even a nihilist - that would seem most appropriate.

Can we not also use induction to think that most people that use large words for no reason are full of "it?"
[/quote]

I do not think there is enough inductive support for that claim.

And once again, I do not use 'large words,' and I most definitely do not use abstruse words unnecessarily. If I feel a word captures better what I intend to express, I will use it. Notice that I do not randomly substitute "utilize" for "use," as a wiseacre would.

Your communication skills are mediocre at best. Also, I'm curious if making generalizations about people you don't know is part of a Communications curriculum?

it seems i have communicated pretty well with you because you are responding. i bet you respond to this one as well. maybe you can tell me that i am not communicating well again when you respond.

you guys never answered the question about who would be more likely to run an engineering company? an engineer or a communications major.

did i read that you went to some christian college? oh my god. you believe that dribble? read the gospel of judas yet? maybe you are some lame theology major? jesus never existed.

Yes, but for some reason you forgot to read that I am an agnostic.

By the way, Georgetown is a Catholic institution. Does that mean that everyone here believes in Christianity?

Though I do not have a belief one way or the other, you should definitely respect those who choose to believe in God and by implication some religion.

I am shocked that I would find such intolerance at the college level. Surely you are more educated regarding this matter.

If there is one major where that pestilence known as postmodernism has fully entrenched itself, it is in communications. I remember my communications professor telling me she wrote her dissertation on post-Foucauldian post-Habermasian discourse, and shuddered at the thought of what occured during her dissertation-defense.

I agree, as atheistic as I am, the making fun of religious people thing is so cliche. (So long as they don't screw up elections...which sort of seems to be the thing these days).

Your example is meaningless, unless you can quote a statistical or other study which analyzes communication majors vs. engineers. Even then you would not be able to establish causality between the communications degree and running the company. Your example is based on assumptions and prejudices (assumption that engineers have poor interpersonal skills). Come back when you have proof.

I find it hard to believe you attend Berkeley. Generally, their student body is very bright and accepting of others' lifestyles. You, sir, are a statistical outlier.
