Hello I was wondering if I could possibly get some advice if my gpa of 4.07 is good for my first semester of high school?
I’m currently a year ahead in science and 2 years ahead in math and I’m wanting to go to Harvard. Thank you for any help it would mean a lot.
what scale?
standard classes are 4.0, which also include most non academic electives; honors are 4.5 and ap classes are 5.0
I am currently ap human, algerba 2 honors, chemistry honors, geman 1, tv production, cooking, and pre ap english 1
What scale is your 4.07 on?
No
Your GPA isn’t as high as it could be, so I would say no. Despite being advanced in coursework, you must also be able to thrive in doing it.
However, I think it is very unimportant at this point. Although you do need to step your grades up, I would recommend focusing far more into what you do outside of school. Think why you want to go to Harvard, what for, and try to get a jump on it before you even go to college. What you really do with your life in high school is far more compelling than your GPA (although it does help to do the best you can.)
My second semester has ended and I had a 4.0 UW and a 4.5 W!
Good job. Keep up the good work!
Obviously you want to aim for all A’s. A few B’s are fine, C’s are not really a territory you want to get into.
Honestly, I wouldn’t stress on grades a whole bunch because Straight A’s as opposed to All A’s and 1-2 B’s will not make or break you. Everyone applying to Harvard has top stats, so top grades are more of a “Check off the box” sort of deal as opposed to a “Will this get me in” sort of thing.
