4+2 Programs

Hi -

My D has narrowed her list down for the 5 year BArch programs but now we are looking at 4+2 programs. Does anyone have any opinions on the programs that are out there? We are thinking a BS in Architecture is more desirable than the BA....we are aware of Northeastern, Roger Williams, Clemson and U of Colorado Environmental Design/MARCh - we are staying away from UMich given that you have to apply sophmore year after you finiah the core....what are we missing?

Consider: U of Illinois (very good study abroad program), U of Cincinnati (7 years due to coop but definitely worth considering).

If you’re looking for 4+2 programs, consider those that are within an NAAB accredited institution for the (+2) part of the program. The [accreditation requires a dedicated library, facilities and top notch faculty accessible by the BA/BS students.

A good example of this is Miami University](http://naab.org/documents/streamfile.aspx?name=2009+Conditions+FINAL+EDITION.pdf&path=Public+Documents\Accreditation\2009+Conditions+for+Accreditation\): great facilities, great professors all within the context of a [extremely well-regarded](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/miami-university-ohio/984021-fwiw-miami-ranked-2-best-colleges-undergraduate-teaching-usnwr.html) liberal arts pedagogy.

Here’s a great [overview video](<a href=“College of Creative Arts | Miami University”>College of Creative Arts | Miami University) for the program.

Two really good programs that I can think of are Wash U and UVA. We had an intern from wash u this summer and he was outstanding.

Kent state has a 4+2 where you can earn a double masters in both architecture and business if that’s something your daughter would be interested in.

But I would say definitely look into Cincinnati, I applied to the DAAP program there and am awaiting a decision. I have visited their facilities and they are great, they are also very well renowned in the architecture sphere.
