Hey! I would love to have some input from a senior or anyone else who is about to graduate on taking 4 APs during junior year.
I’m planning to take AP Lang, AP Chem, APES, and AP World History.
Science is my strength and I have taken all science honor classes offered to me. I’m pretty good at history and I don’t struggle a lot in my history classes. On the other hand, I struggle a little bit in English but I manage to have an A/A-.
Is this doable?
Sure, if you can put up with the workload. I personally think that three a year is sufficient, but it’s always a good thing to push yourself!
I gave the same advice on another thread, but I took 5 AP’s this past junior year and find my workload to be manageable. I have not taken AP Chem and AP World History (my school does not offer those), but they are notoriously known as the hardest AP classes, so taking them at the same time might be tricky. APES and AP Lang should be relatively easy (English is not my strong suit either, but the class is not for strictly English-savvy students). In the end, challenge yourself without killing yourself. I don’t know what your school’s policy is, but mine lets students drop and change classes before the first quarter ends. If that’s the case, I say sign up for the harder classes and then if the workload is not doable, drop and switch them. It is easier to get out of a hard class than try to get into one mid-year.
Thank you for your response! My school’s policy is the same. I can drop out of the classes before the end of 1st quarter.
Hey there! I took WHAP freshman year and it’s not that bad. It’s the easiest AP history class. APES is the easiest science AP. AP Lang isn’t too bad, if you’re decent in writing, but I’ve heard that AP Chem is pretty tough. 4 APs should be pretty manageable if you have good time management.
Why AP ES? Are you going to go into Environmental Science?
Yes! I love environmental science and plan on going into environmental engineering or environmental science in general.
