4 AP's not enough for one year?

if your school offers 22 AP's, is taking 4 AP's senior year not enough? I took two in 10th grade (got a 5 on both exams) and will be taking four this year (yes, I'm only a junior right now) My goal is to get all 5's, so I'm not sure if taking too much might bring down my score.

Any comments? Thanks in advance! :)

that's enough. i'm sure some of those AP's are languages that you would not be able to take anyway.

I think that's enough. 10 is a lot already. If your goal is to get all 5's, you probably shouldn't take too many as you might not be able to study enough for all of them. Only you know how much you can do, though. Good luck!

You sound just like me! (I did 2 sophomore year, 4 as a junior.)

I think that's a perfectly full plate you've got. And getting all 5's is certainly doable. Keep studying throughout the year and you've got it made. :]

thanks everyone. so would that then be taking the toughest courseload if everything else basically is honors? (except for the required classes and one or two electives in high school?) the whole "toughest courseload" thing really confused me.

what is your schedule for junior/senior years?

well, I'm currently in my junior year and my schedule is as follows

AP English Language
AP Statistics
Pre-calculus Honors
AP Spanish
Student Leadership (instead of lunch period)
AP Biology
AP Bio Lab/ PE
US History Honors
Sports Medicine (F) / Health (S)

and the AP's I know I definitely want to take senior year are AP Calculus BC, AP Physics, AP Macroeconomics, and AP US History Government and Politics. I don't know if I should take AP English Language or World Literature Honors (since I'm not that good with analyzing literature), and AP Environmental Science or Computer Programming Honors (b/c environmental science seems boring and the teachers gives tons of annoying projects) Anyway, I would appreciate any input! :D

Except for Statistics, your other 3 APs are very challenging, so I think you're okay.

thanks! anyone else?

5's are totally doable. You don't really need to study for lang and Cliff's is a godsend for bio. I'd just be worried for Spanish since the material slowly builds up.

thanks for the advice! yeah i think i'm just going to stick with what i was planning to do.

That seems fine to me. I made a pretty gradual increase from year to year.
1 Sophmore -> 3 Junior -> 4 Senior.

8 APs seems plenty enough to me, even though my school doesn't offer 22, we offer around 14.

i was just wondering...wat aps did u take soph yr?

your schedule is good...the only thing that in my opinion is weak is that you are taking precalc as a junior.

Most schools dont let people go off and take Linear Algebra while still in high school o_O Precalculus Honors is perfectly normal and is not 'weak' at all for the top schools

i know so many people who took calculus in middle school that taking precalc as a junior seems eh...

ok, i'd just like to point out how rediculous you sound saying is 4 ap's enough. that puts you in like the top 5% of all students, not to mention that im sure you're going to take more.

even despite that the average here on CC is obviously skewed, 4 is by far "enough".

yeah. taking pre-calculus junior year isn't bad at all. to CCers its such a shock you aren't taking multivariable by junior year, but hey, screw them. 10 APs is great. I had a meeting with a Northwestern(ranked 10th in the country) Admissions officer and she said that the average number of APs that have been taken for an incoming freshman is 4.

thanks everyone! it's true though, that sometimes looking at what other CC's do in terms of AP's, especially with all that self-studying, makes me second guess myself. But, I'll just go along with what I was originally planning. :)

Moonstar:
Sophomore year I had taken AP Chemistry and AP Psychology (They normally don't let 10th graders take AP Chem in my school so I was ecstatic when I found out I got a 5...I had studyed by butt off! LOL)
