Looking to transfer from Duke to HYS for sophomore standing. The only grades i'll have are from 4 classes. Is that too few provided I get 4.0?

I dont think so. It depends on hour ur schools academic credit system works most students typically take from four to five courses a semester dont they?

For sophomore standing? That's not enough. I believe you need 30 units (semester) before you can be considered a sophomore. Maybe you could make it if you have a ton of AP credits from high school.

I know Harvard doesn't give AP credit for transfers (even freshman have to take adv. standing--all or nothing) and I don't think Yale does either, though I could be wrong . . .

is there such thing as too much credits to transfer?

If you're looking to transfer for sophomore standing, then you'd submit your application after your entire freshman year is over. You'd get a decision over the summer around July.

There no such thing as too many credits to transfer, but many colleges have a residency requirement where you have to be at their campus for a minimum number of terms or credit hours to get their degree.

As far as I know, Harvard, Yale, Brown, and a few other schools have a policy that if a transfer applicant has more than 2 years(over 60 credits), then they are not eligitable to transfer. So if you want to apply to those schools, make sure that you have under 60 credits.

Check the school's admissions site to comfirm. Good luck!

if i am an out of state cc student who has almost 60 credits and then transfer into another cc. Would the credits i would earn in the new cc i go to, affect the university i'm applying for?

I do not think that is the case. So long as the transfer applicant is neither a second-semester junior nor senior upon matriculation, he/she should be fine.

I guess what I said wasnt clear enough, sorry. I want to transfer to a new school for Fall 06. By that time, I will have finished an entire freshman year. However, I need to send in my application by March 15. By March, I'll only have grades for 4 classes from my first semester.
