So I'm sophomore and have done cross country and track for both years of high school. I was wondering if 4 years of a sport really makes a difference on an application, especially if I'm not that good. Also, in general does a 4 year commitment make a difference to colleges? I'm only asking this because I'm contemplating quitting running and doing ASB or student achievement for my last two years. So any feedback on which would look better would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I think it depends on what you’d be replacing the sport with. Idk what ASB/student achievment is, but if its more valuable than doing xc or track then go for it! I’m in the same situation sort of: I’m a junior but I’m considering quitting tennis if I get elected as president of a community service club I’m in.

ASB and student achievement are like leadership things at my school. They basically run all the events at school; rallies, fundraisers, and spirit days and such.

Commitment looks good. “Student achievement” looks cliche. Leadership looks good. Excellence looks good (think varsity/all conference/state). Leadership excellence is the best.
Ultimately it’s your decision. Do you love said sports enough to keep playing?
