<p>By my sophomore year of high school, I had taken 4 years of french. My GS pushed my to sign up for a fifth year, threatening me with a “you won’t get into an ivy league school unless you have 4 years, and they don’t count any years outside of high school”</p>
<p>I didn’t listen to her. Instead of french my junior year, I took AP Psych. Never regretted it until now, when I’m thinking about what i could have done to get into all those schools I was waitlisted at.</p>
<p>4 years of a foreign language is not necessary for acceptance at Cal. My son had three and his friend had two years of Spanish and they both got in.</p>
<p>In our area, AP English is much more difficult than English 1A at the community college.</p>
