So throughout sophomore and junior year I’ve taken 4 APs. APPsych, which I took sophomore year, i got a 5 (it’s literally an easy AP, very common to get a 5). However, junior year I took APES, APUSH, and APLang. I received straight 4s. I’m not going to act like I was a consistent 5 or anything, but was a little thrown off to see STRAIGHT 4s. Especially considering I lost my sanity over getting a B+ in APUSH, yet easily got an A in APES. I know the coursework doesn’t always correlate directly to the test but I was a little shook. So, should I report these scores when I apply? I plan to apply to UNC-CH, Boston College, Northeastern, NC State, U South Carolina and a few more safeties. I know a 4 isn’t the end of the world, but I’ve heard it looks worse to not report them than report a 4 as colleges may assume you chose not to report those scores because they were bad. Please help! Thanks!
4s are really good. Definitely report them.
Agree. Nothing to be ashamed of. Report them.
Yes, report them - 4s and 5s are good scores. If you had 3s, they advice would be to not report those, but you are fine with all of those.
4s are fine, after all you can still get credit for some of those.
4’s literally count for credit at multiple of the schools listed. No college (even Harvard) will look at a 4 as a negative.
Generally, it is best to report 3 and above. Only a few top schools will see anything wrong with 3’s.
^^ our CC said not to report 3s. Clearly different takes on this. But doesn’t impact OP.
@gardenstategal For context, I went to a college prep school where about 50% of the class went to T50 or so and that was the advice from our CC’s. The logic is that if you don’t report, they assume 3 or lower. Why give them the chance to assume a 2/1 since they won’t assume 4-5. That was about 5 years ago. Won’t impact OP but hopefully that context helps.
@PengsPhils , We got this advice from CC at same kind of BS full of high achieving kids (2 years ago). Your logic makes sense, just contradicts what we were told.
