Anyone who has a child in 4th Company? Of those 300+ photos yesterday, I didn't see my son. Do they photograph all companies? I'm obsessed....permanently attached to the internet, anxiously looking and waiting for more photos.

My daughter is a DI in 4th. I've seen a couple of her yelling at some plebes, don't know if they are in 4th as well, or if they yell at all plebes! Last year there were hundreds of pics and I only found her in about 50! You'll see him soon I'm sure.

Thanks for insight. I'm sure your daughter is yelling at my son, but that's okay. He's probably immuned by me; he's used to females yelling at him. I'm in awe of anyone who can get my kid out of bed.

Yes. 4th Co has some photos. I've spotted my son in a (very) few.
Many inside shots are blurry (low light/indoors) is the bane of handheld digital cameras... I taken many exactly like they are doing. BUT KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!! A blurry shot of my son behind someone doing pushups is better that none -- by a long shot!

Keys:
Look at stenciling on the shirts. Sometimes you can make out a name, their year, and their company. "LastName FirstInitial 11 CompanyNumber" Example: "Doe J 11 4" for John Doe, 2011, 4th company. So far, 4th company pix don't show any stenciling (maybe they haven't done it yet).

You can see, however, which company IS being shown. Learn some names of others in his company. Your parents' org may have been given a list.

Learn the Girls' names in his company... They get a good number of photos (I think its great. Hope it will encourage more to make the committment to KP) and are great clues to if you are in the right company.

There are probably more, but I don't know what they are.
Good luck. Tips from anyone else? I've been poring over those things, and zooming in till my fingers are tired.

But VERY thankful KP mids are doing this. Keep up the good work -- the fillin flash is working great on the indoor shots!

My son is in 4th co as well (Nicholas Hallam), more pictures...woot!

Day 3 has photos of 4th Company in the pool with orange suits on. I spied my son in there. Would give my eye teeth to see one pic of him smiling. Guess I'm asking too much.

Cheer up Moms. If your son is protestant, he probably went to chapel yesterday. Most go during indoc because it's air conditioned and they get to sit for an hour quietly with no one yelling at them. (they are not required to go to any service)

I gave out 180 MOM hugs to each one of the students who attended that service. I stood at the back and as they filed out, I encouraged them, and told them I had a MOM hug for them. They all hugged back, and many of them smiled. They are still hanging in there. My son graduated from there, so I know what you are feeling.

On real hot days, they have warning flags, so they won't be doing as much in this heat wave, so don't worry.

KPMOM, That's great! 180 MOM hugs is awesome number. Was there a Catholic service yesterday, as well? As for smiles, I saw lots of them in the photos posted today...very encouraging!

Yes, there was a catholic service from 10am -11am. I saw Chaplain Shuley at the door giving each one of them a strong handshake and words of encouragement.

KPMom, you just got the "Mom of the year award". I voted! :)

WOW. Thanks KPmom ! I agree with Jamzmom, you are "Mom of Year"!! (180 "AYE" votes counted, and more coming in). Thanks for doing something so special for these kids, and indirectly for us as well.

I've been going over 4th company pics. If I spot my son in the background, he is blurry but I know it's him.

If he is in the foreground, you'll all be able to spot him tool ! -- Will always seemes to have his eyes closed !

I cannot blame the cameraman, since he's like this in many home photos as well--he just has impeccable timing when anticipating ANY camera focusing on him. [If I didn't know better, I'd think he was walking around with his eyes closed.]

Thanks KPMOM, you're our new HERO!!! Wished there were pics of each of those hugs with close-ups of their faces. Keep up the great work.

I am not a hero. I love the students, and so does my husband. We have been looking after them, and watching out for them for years. You guys are the heros with the worry about how they are doing. They are doing fine, and they are developing discipline and maturity that will amaze you. We watch them change before our eyes, and it's so much fun. We have worked with many colleges, including West Point, and I can tell you that the students at KP graduate with a greater maturity, poise, sense of who they are, than the other schools. They also have the world at their fingertips when they graduate, there are so many opportunities. Just think, they will be world travelers before they get their degrees. The indoc and training is hard on them, but my husband, who graduated from there, said it change him forever and taught him discipline.

My son is in 4th company also. Saw 1 picture with a big smile in the chow hall holding the standard!

KPMom - you ARE our hero. Thank you for caring; for being there in our absence to administer hugs and smiles; for your kind words of encouragement that what we are all doing as a community is the right thing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

180 Mom hugs......amazing! Many, many thanks! From a 2011 stepmom.

Overjoyed! Received my first letter!!! He's questioning his decision ("Maybe I should have gone to Boston"), but in the same line says "I think it's pretty cool what we are doing up here." My son's roommate is A. KLEIN. Could his parent possibly be one of you?

Okay, I'm taking a lawn chair out to sit by the mailbox now. Letters may take longer to reach Idaho, though--where are you located?

Oh, I see it on your profile--Pennsylvania. I'll wait until tomorrow to camp by the mailbox!

There is no date on the letter, so I'm not sure when they had time to write. But the envelope is postmarked July 9 (Monday) - if that helps at all. Best wishes for a letter tomorrow!
