4th Company

a small, tabletop size ironing board is all they need

Ironing board... Hmmmm. Did you send up an IRON as well? Or do they have them up there without an iron?

Just curious. Happy, however, to see that they were all being introduced to what a waching machine and dryer looks like -- in case they were not already familiar with it.

my roommate and i worked out a deal, he got the ironing board, i got the iron, there was no need for 2 of each in a room. its not a big deal if you don't have one later, someone on thier deck will have one and everybody shares

You don't even really need an ironing board...I found that your sea chest and a towel work just fine...I had my parents send me up a small ironing board and I barely even used it, it just takes up more space which is already limited.

Well it's done, small compact travel board and steam iron. He can share if he does not use it. Also, I heard that they change roomates after indoc? Is this true?

Yes, and they change roommates every semester.

actually it depends on the company and the officers in the company, some may keep the same roommate all year, while others may change rooms and roommates many times.

I thought the roommates change each trimester. If my PC gets stuck with the one he has now, he will not be a happy camper. Why is it different for everyone?

Ditto. We want kathynp's son back!!! When will they switch again? When will PC's get to choose with whom they want to room, if ever? If the time, I'm consoling PC that this is a great life lesson ~ learning to get along with a challenge personality.

4th co has gotten some new transfers into its area.

And 4th co seems pretty gung-ho about physical participation and rules and doing more-with-less (at least that's the perception, as I understand it, that they have about themselves)

The new kids are going to have a real wakeup call. Especially on Sundays -- no more racking in until noon :)

Some of the other companies P/Cs have commented that they wake up and blearily peer out of their windows just to look at 4th company outside doing pushups... and thank their stars that they were assigned where they are ;)

I'm sure that every company has its stories.
But I know my kid, for one, loves 4th company... and wouldn't have it any other way !

In 2005, the Class of 2009 made 4th Co Honor Company. Those guys had the RC as a DI during indoc and they (the A Spliters) are getting to lead a little now and want the Company to be as good as it was two years ago. Just wait until the B-spltters get back. They take being locked on seriously -- without being Regcocks.

Remember you can't be locked on without OCD ;)

LFWB it sounds like what you just said was really important....Unfortunately, I have NO IDEA what it means? Please explain -- WITHOUT KP lingo...Thanks!

And by the way MMAMom2011...we want your son back too!!!

According to my P/C -- Fourth Company Rocks!!!! No question!!

kathynp

Each year each company of Plebe Candidates compete to be Hornor Company. When the Class of 2009 came in it was 4th Company.

"Locked On" means you take the military aspects of the academy seriously -- the the reference to OCD -- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

RC -- Regimental Commander Marjorie Marino was a 4th Co Drill Instructor the summer of 2005

"A Regcock" is someone who takes being locked on to a level that doesn't show leadership but is simply abusive because they are upperclassmen. Basically a jerk

Does that help?

^^^ LOL I wasn't gonna go there. Was waiting on you LFWBDad for the explainin' parts. ;)

4th Co rules
or so my 3rd classman
has told me

Thanks LFWB dad--I appreciate your explanation.

Just trying to learn here in Maryland about what my PC is going through and what it all means....

I hear it's been pretty rough for fourth company recently. Anyone know what's going on? My PC is pretty mum.

Plebes
gotta go thru this
Recognition will come and
this too will pass

My 4th company kid (3rd classman)
is sailing the weekend away
on a yacht
eating like a queen
and dreaming of Seatime in October

Yours will soon be clear
of these trials
recognized as part of the Regiment
and you wont believe his growth

kathynp, yours is in good hands

I guess I'm jumping into this thread late, but is there something unique going on with 4th company? He just moved in from Band company and seems to have acclimated in well.

2011TXDad--My PC is in fourth and they have had few leave, i.e. for drugs, medical, behavior, just quit, and so I guess that is bad. They have had to do alot of extra stuff that the other companies haven't had to do, i.e. pushups, etc. Why did your kiddo come into fourth out of band. Not playing anymore?
