5/6 of my scores were 1's....

good…

Hey, you shouldn’t feel bad at all. I mean, if you weren’t capable of doing great things, then you would not have made a 4 on the AP English Exam. You should be really proud of that score, and you can still cancel the other ones without a fee. Your teachers may still seem them, but they will be erased from your AP Exam History. The fact that you even attempted those exams is a feat! Think about it: Very few high school students challenge themselves in 2009; You are one of those very few high school students. Taking that many exams certainly shows strong work ethic, so don’t be upset! All you can do is to try to do better next year, and put those scores behind you. Just keep thinking, “I made a 4, which is a score that most do not make.”

:)

AP exam scores don’t represent who you are…the score is just like your driver’s license photo. It’s just a one-time representation of you, nothing else. Obviously, you’re a motivated student since you took the classes and the exams and that’s GOOD ENOUGH. I know someone who got a 1 in AP Physics and got into MIT. Honestly, colleges are not that concerned with AP Exams. They specifically are interested in the SAT, SAT Subject tests, Class rank, and your courseload. Your courseload is TOUGH and yeah, I know you might be depressed about your exam scores but you just have to tell yourself that you are far more capable and continue to work hard. If I were you, I would just report the good scores, because seeing a bunch of 1s might make colleges change their minds, frankly. But it’s not a big deal, you can act like you didn’t have the money to take the rest of the exams. $86?? That’s a lot. Good lucK!

don’t worry about it, no point in throwing up and crying about stuff that happened in the past, if your going to be a college freshman than it doesn’t matter, even if your going to be a high school senior who cares, just do better and revise your strategy for your next ap tests…

to pigsatsea’s first post, I have heard of - scores, but not 0’s. I think this is if you don’t write your name on the exam though?

There are many good explanations for “poor” performance on APs. Sometimes the AP test format isn’t well-suited for certain people. I don’t consider myself particularly good at AP exams, even after taking them for three years. Other times, the long year makes stuff learned in the beginning seem like a distant memory. Still others, the free responses just aren’t what you hoped for.

As a replacement for the units you could have earned, you might consider taking corresponding courses and/or credit by exam at a community college or university extension. That way you’ll prove your knowledge of the subjects the AP test did not show you to be knowledgeable in and have something to show for it (no one can just take away your college grades - they’re more concrete than AP!).

I can say from experience that approaching teachers after earning a score lower than what you and/or your teacher expected is difficult. It’s probably more difficult then seeing the bad score itself. I still have not seen my scores for this year, but in the past I never earned a score that was unexpectedly good. And I have a feeling that, though few high school guys on the internet will admit that they’re just 5’9", middle class, get good grades in school (but not 5.0s), and have AP scores other than fives, a lot of people are in a similar boat. You can not have 70% of people above average.

Don’t brand yourself like Hester Prynne was and agonize over AP scores forever. Focus on what makes you proud of yourself, not what makes others proud of themselves. If you know that you are strong in certain subjects, no test should make you feel otherwise.

oh and don’t sweat it, i know people in the upper 25% of their class who got 1’s on EVERY exam, even subjects they were “good” at. Also, I’ve heard of people who have gotten 2’s on AP Euro and gotten into Williams. And for most colleges, bad AP scores don’t kill your application- they just don’t exactly help

whoa, i never really expect this kind of scores from a motivated person. This seems a bit contradictory. So, during the 5 exams, what made u screw up?

I almost hope you’re trollin’

^^^ lol, I am seriously thinking that the op is ■■■■■■■■…

I think it could be real. I mean, look at the statistics and mean scores…most people make lower scores.

Ok, who do you think you are just to assume that? You have no evidence of that, and I’ll be more than happy to post a picture of my score report when it comes for those of you who can’t take me seriously.

And for those who were asking, here’s what happened:

AP Calculus BC: Got to the test feeling prepared. Had a good teacher. Got stuck a couple times. I felt like I knew what I was doing, but my answers seemed wrong.

AP English Comp: Got a 4. No problem.

AP Psychology: I have no idea. I thought I aced this. I didn’t know what “Introversion” and “Vestibular System” were in the FR section so I’m guessing that’s what caused it.

AP Latin-Vergil: Did not know anything. Attempted the first translation and basically BS’ed the rest of it.

AP US-History: I barely even remember taking it. I was hoping for a 3.

AP Physics: Bad teacher. All our points were lab and participation. Didn’t learn that much.

I don’t think you’re a ■■■■■! Again though, kudos on the 4, because that’s really good. You should feel proud of that. :)

Do you think it’s at all possible that there was something wrong with the pencil you used and the machine misread your MC? Maybe you should consider having the MC re-scored for the tests.

what exactly is ■■■■■■■■?

Google Boxxy

I’m almost happy this thread exist. I feel better about my 2 on AP Calculus BC. Thank you so much for reflection shampooSwallower

Really, don’t be too upset. This isn’t the end of the world. You got a 4; that means you must have just had off days with the other ones, or simply weren’t as prepared as you needed to be. Just cancel your grades (or don’t); these scores may not help with your college apps, but I’m sure they aren’t going to throw your app in the trash when they wee these. Keep your GPA up and get good SAT/ACT scores, and you’ll be set. Seriously.

I mean, you could be starving in Africa. If this is all you have to worry about, count yourself lucky.

Yes, post the picture.

I might be crazy, but I always thought colleges don’t see your AP Scores until AFTER you’ve been admitted? Considering I just got accepted into college, I know that my college hasn’t even seen my scores and won’t until Collegeboard mail them this summer? I just sent them my SAT scores…it was the only Collegeboard test they required for my application…

Don’t sweat bad grades on your AP exams. They have no effect on whether you’ll get into a college, just whether you can place out of classes or not. And if you’re not prepared to place out of one, why would you want to?

^
i agree with dannys717, is it possible that your pencil wasn’t dark enough? it’s very easy for the scanner to pick up an entire blank page of MC with a slightly lighter pencil.

don’t worry, you can easily not report your ap grades. it’s good that you took ap classes; colleges will be impressed. they won’t see your score as long as you don’t report them. ;)
