Hello,
I have been talking to my friends and they all have been telling me NOT to take 5 aps next year, since it is going to be extremely difficult. But i am very motivated. However, I need to study for my PSAT/SATs next year since i only got a 156 on my PSAT score:(
Here is my schedule:
AP Psych
AP Chem
AP Lang
AP Euro
AP USH
Precalc HN
Physics HN

What do you think? Should i drop Precalc HN to study more for my PSAT/SAT?

I think it depends on your past courses. My son took 4 APs as a sophomore and 7 APs as a junior. The increase was a relatively smooth transition. However, he had no APs as a freshman and the first semester of 10th grade was REALLY difficult for him and he is a highly motivated kid.

In addition it would depend on your interests. The history classes cover a lot of information and can be tedious, so having 2 may prove difficult. You are also taking AP chem and Honors Physics…if you have a love for science that’s great…if not you may not want to double up.

As far as the Honors Pre-Calc…what would you replace that course with? Colleges like to see you taking math each year.

I would study for the PSAT in the summer. The school year is not the optimal time for that in my opinion.

Good Luck!

If anything, I would switch out one of the history classes with a less time consuming class. History classes will tend to take up a lot of time, usually more so than other classes. It can be AP or non-AP, but if you want more time to study, then definitely stick to only one history class.

I’d drop either APUSH or AP Euro for an easier AP. I don’t think there’s really an upper limit on the amount of APs you should take in one year, but two content-heavy APs like Euro and US is going to be a lot of work. Could you get into something like Biology or Physics B?

You should drop some APs or either those other classes, especially since AP Chem is NOT an easy class from my experience. And when it comes to testing time in May you’re going to be so overwhelmed! And with your ECs and other activities, can you really juggle 7 APs on your junior year? And yes your junior year is difficult, I literally had no sleep my whole junior year intill the last day of my AP tests. I’m warning you, don’t kill yourself. Take it easy a little bit.
