Here are the AP Classes I plan to take in my Junior Year:
AP Computer Science
AP Literature
Pre-Calculus Honors
U.S History
AP Physics 1
Spanish 3
Religious Studies
I will self-study AP Computer Science in depth, Pre-Calculus H (with trig) using khanacademy and a textbook, AP Physics 1 using khanacademy, read 10 non-fiction books and 10 fiction books, and Duolingo for Spanish 3 all in one summer.
Wait what are your plans for this summer!!!
You should focus on doing something different over the summer.
That schedule is okay
Read 5-8 books over the summer, preview ONE class, but most importantly use your time wisely.
@MYOS1634 I’m gonna take geometry, chemistry, a semester of algebra 1 (got a D- second semester last year), and possibly pre-calculus if I don’t get in Pre-Calculus H.
@inVisiblee I already answered your other thread, but I feel I need to reiterate.
Dude, there is NO way you’re going to be able to master all of that material in one summer. Especially the math! Three math classes in a summer is NOT a good idea. And a chemistry class?? Bro, I get you want to accelerate…but that is way too much and you will regret not having a good foundation in either of these classes. There is a reason they offer these in a sequence and over a full year.
As I stated before, how are you going to take chemistry? If it’s not a lab class then I would not take it over the summer.
If anything (I read another thread of yours that said you had already completed algebra 2, right?) You said you had a B/B- average in algebra 2… Just take the algebra 1 remediation and possibly the chemistry (as long as it’s a lab course) in the summer. Geometry is vital to precalculus.
Talk to your guidance consoler ASAP.
Sorry if this didn’t sound like what you wanted, but in all honesty, we’re trying to help you in the long run, and your idea isn’t realistic. Good luck!
I am confused. Are you taking these classes over the summer or during the 2017-18 school year? Also, you only have three AP classes listed above.
Over the summer, take Algebra1 and get an A.
Math is sequential. Each class is a step in the sequence and you have to take them in order (until you get to really advanced, as a college junior.) You need to have Algebra1&2 + Geometry in order to take Precalculus, and to get into precalculus honors you need A’s in these classes.
So, if you got a D in Algebra 1, you first order of priority this summer should be to take it again and “repair” your grade with an A. I assume you’re currently taking Geometry, so you should plan on Algebra 2 next year (during the school year) and precalculus senior year (Precalculus Honors if you got A’s in Geometry and Algebra2). This is perfectly fine for most universities.
Do not put the cart before the horse.
@equationlover @MYOS1634 The school placed me in algebra 2 instead of geometry after I scored the 79th percentile on the placement exam (specifically the math portion). I will take a semester of algebra 1, geometry, and possibly chemistry after basketball season ends in 2-3 months. I’m thinking about taking pre-calculus next summer because by the time i finish algebra 1, a semester of geometry as well as chemistry, i would have more time to study the sat as well as read 10-20 books and self-study 3 subjects which I already listed out in my description.
But other than that, I’ll think about my decision whether or not I should take pre-calculus next summer. Oh, and math is a pretty amusing subject after I programmed last summer lol.
@kimclan1 I don’t think I’ll get in the honors class since I’ll have an estimated average of a B for 1st semester. Still thinking about taking pre-calculus next summer lol.
FYI, I managed to get an A 1st quarter and a C or a C- 2nd quarter. Unfortunately depression came back which messed up my grades – espcially math, spanish, and english so rip ucb, ucla, and ucsd lmao.
I guess I’ll have to pressure myself to earn a 4.0. If not, there goes the reject letters to two of my dream college prep schools I’ll be applying to.
kim clan, i will self-study 3 subjects in preparation for the following ap classes i listed out. For ap lit or ap english language & composition (depends what private school I transfer to next year) I will read at least 10-20 books because why not lol
Are you on lock scheduling?
How come you had a placement test?
